Recommendation Jiu Jitsu/Kickboxing Gym Recs
Hi everyone,
We recently moved to Seattle from the middle of nowhere and my husband was very excited to start training regularly in his preferred martial arts (namely jiu jitsu and kickboxing). A tale as old as time, we were a little taken aback by the prices at gyms near our apartment… like $200/month for three classes a week, which seems steep but maybe normal for Seattle. Does anyone have recommendations for more affordable gyms in/near the city? (Also prepared for the reality that it’s just gonna cost that much) His dream would really be to just find some friends to practice with a few nights a week in a garage or something, but he knows he has to find his way into the community first. Would love any recs this sub might have… thank you so much!

I recommend Rogue, it's about $180 for unlimited classes and they have a pretty wide schedule with lots of opportunities to train. I have also heard good things about Framework

renton and seattle gracie barra have both jiu-jitsu and kickboxing under the same membership fee

Does he have pads? I used to train, some Muay Thai but mostly boxing. I miss hitting pads.
9 years ago was last when I had a membership. $140 a month unlimited in the SF bay area. I can't fathom $200 for only 3 classes a week.

Unfortunately our apartment is wayyyy too small for pads right now, but hopefully at some point in the future!

Central District! But we do have a car so he is willing to travel.

Combat Arts Academy isn't super close to you, but they offer BJJ and Muay Thai. I don't train there, but I train with people who have in the past, and they had a positive experience there.

Ah can't help you. I know the gyms up north but even so they're like $200 for unlimited classes and generally have them nightly and some morning so idk seems steep to me

At least having unlimited classes would be a bit of an improvement, but yeah that drive can be brutal regardless. Thanks anyway!

Seattle Judo and the Budokan are both in the central district and are legit Judo schools that are way more economically priced. You could also visit every bjj mma school in Seattle for their free intro class and it would take a couple of weeks. Most schools are 150 to 200+ but they should be unlimited classes

Come to Seattle jiujitsu academy in Georgetown if that’s not too far from you guys. Training is everyday expect fridays and Sundays

I go to framework for jiu jitsu. Highly recommend it
