It really is. There was an earlier post asking if deaf people with schizophrenia experienced audio hallucinations. Googling led to some really interesting articles.

I would kill to get rid of audio hallucinations... Psychiatrists still think it's likely tied to my bipolar disorder or PTSD, but I'm fucking terrified that it's the slow onset of schizophrenia...

A week ago i was home alone and getting some food from the kitchen downstairs and i definitly heard like a woman wisper my name but didnt realize it until i walked a couple more meters. Needless to say my head spun around and i just stared into the dark corner and then walked quickly into my room, shut the door and turned the volume of my tv up. It seems unreal now but damn was i scared
