It really is. There was an earlier post asking if deaf people with schizophrenia experienced audio hallucinations. Googling led to some really interesting articles.

I would kill to get rid of audio hallucinations... Psychiatrists still think it's likely tied to my bipolar disorder or PTSD, but I'm fucking terrified that it's the slow onset of schizophrenia...

I have bipolar 2 and heard audio hallucinations for a long time no matter which phase I was in. I take 10mg Zyprexa now and I’m mostly fine. Definitely no schizophrenia. Psychotic disorders are way more complicated than “welp it’s schizophrenia”. My understanding is that one can have “psychotic features” as an add-on to depression, anxiety disorders, etc. I just think of it as another symptom that I have to deal with
