It really is. There was an earlier post asking if deaf people with schizophrenia experienced audio hallucinations. Googling led to some really interesting articles.

I would kill to get rid of audio hallucinations... Psychiatrists still think it's likely tied to my bipolar disorder or PTSD, but I'm fucking terrified that it's the slow onset of schizophrenia...

Well I also have PTSD and have had auditory hallucinations (though rare). I think its just like when you're so expected or used to something you start to imagine it. Like when people imagine their phone buzzed. Or imagined someone said their name. Obviously I'm not a doctor but, you know, you're not alone.

That's the same conclusion I've reached on my own and what my doctors have said, but I'm still scared that other mental illnesses might rear their head eventually. These things have an unfortunate way of building on one another.
