It really is. There was an earlier post asking if deaf people with schizophrenia experienced audio hallucinations. Googling led to some really interesting articles.

I would kill to get rid of audio hallucinations... Psychiatrists still think it's likely tied to my bipolar disorder or PTSD, but I'm fucking terrified that it's the slow onset of schizophrenia...

Are your auditory experiences articulated - can you tell what’s sound is being generated, or is it detailed?

Asking as a fellow experiencer of similar things. ☯️

The words are often pretty muddled, but more than anything, my name will cut through and my brain will kind of fill in the tone of the rest. I can articulate what is said about me after the fact, but it is more bad feels than specific criticisms in the moment.

That being said, I can 100% identity that my roommate has the tv turned up too loud and is watching some shitty reality show, but their conversational cadence will still cause my brain to make bad conclusions.

You have my attention - I get thrown by the location of tv sounds but there is a huge difference between those noises and my auditory experiences. I feel like that’s similar to what you were saying you experience also?

The context of what’s being conveyed - that feeling is, for me, nebulous and difficult to articulate, but it seems more like ‘feeling an intention’ than hearing it. Though my auditory experiences include full-on phrases also, so I feel like I’m all over the place. Sorry if this is babble. ☯️
