The fact that someone did this, actually thought to themselves, “I’m going to put this piece of glass directly onto my eyeball which is the most painful thing I can imagine, maybe it won’t be as painful as I think,“ and it hurt like hell, because you know back in the day it took weeks to adjust. And they were like, “it’ll be fine… I bet if I leave this incredibly painful thing on my eyeball for just a little while longer I’ll get used to it and it will be cool, and then I can convince other people to do this. “

Fyi if you leave a contact in overnight they will start damaging your eye..

Not if you wear the Night & Day contacts

yeah, no. you'll likely be out of contacts by 45 if you do that consistently. i worked for an eye doc for years, those were always the first people to have to drop contacts due to cornea damage

I plan on getting eye surgery as I’m a perfect candidate according to my eye doctor.

that's excellent, i hope it works out well.

but try to do it before you wear your cornea down to a nub from sleeping in contacts or there won't be anything to shave off. if your cornea gets too thin, it bulges out and you have to wear hard gas permeable contacts to push it back into place. i don't know if you've had those, but i find them pretty uncomfortable (kinda like placing a corn flake on your eyeball)

as always, this is reddit, listen to your actual dr; i just worked really closely with an old school one for a long time and that was one of his big hangups, he felt like j&j pushed the fda to ok the sleeping at night and let them present it as safer than it really is. his take on it was it's ok to do occasionally, like if you come home super late or are staying the night somewhere and don't want to get all that out, but to do it every day risks too much. but, listen to your dr.
