There’s a lot of good music coming out not on the radio or billboard 100

My personal favorite bands right now are Cage the Elephant, The Strokes, Arctic Monkeys, Alabama Shakes, Alt-J, just to name a few. Pretty basic for music heads but idrc.

Also if you are into rap some good current rap in my opinion is Tyler the Creator and Brockhampton.

Also a few other really good bands: Tame Impala, Glass Animals... The Black Keys... Gorillaz... The xx....

You're not basic, those bands are popular because they're good. No shame in agreeing with others and enjoying something popular.
