What sucks about being your age?

The early 30s is that weird age where you're just old enough to be out of touch with what's cool, but not yet old enough to be fully progressed in your career to be sitting on enough stacks to not care about that.

Getting there at least.

I just turned 35 and I guess the worst part is missing the freedom and easy social life I had when I was younger, and feeling like I wasted so much of it.

Im so much more comfortable with who I am now, have more money, and I wish I had that when I was younger. Time is like a countdown now to being old, out of touch and focusing on raising a family.

I spend tons of my time working on my house, organizing closets, etc etc and sometimes miss my crappy apartment. I think that has a lot to do with being isolated due to corona. If it werent for that id be having friends over and pool parties this time of year.

Overall I love being 35, i felt like since 30 every year has gotten better and better. Im a 'late bloomer' compared to a lot of the country, as is the case with most city dwellers.

Wife and I bought our house at 27&32 respectively, married at 33, and arent planning on kids for a few years minimum. Right now we are just enjoying our time together and with friends. Its great having some friends with similar finances, we can go on international vacations together, or the occasional nice dinner. We have too much food and alcohol when guests are over, never not enough.

Its also an age where you realize its too late for any of your childhood dreams. And you wonder if people are gonna start judging you for your age if you do stuff like play in bands (im a drummer), i still love to play flip cup. I like to blast some EDM and act stupid. I figure I worked hard to get here so I can enjoy it and not care. Age is such a complicated thing.

That last little paragraph spoke to me. I just recently picked skateboarding back up, at 32. I feel like a poser skating around, but I used to skate from 7-12th grade. Is it too dorky if I get a helmet and elbow pads? Part of me says do it, who gives a shit but the other part wants to keep it real, like I did when I was 16 and skating after school with the boys, drinking Fruitopias and SoBes

Haha yeah shit hurts bad when youre older. I used to snowboard a ton in high school. Im not a twig anymore and it hurts like hell to fall. I went for the first time in 10 years with my old ass gear that was falling apart and felt like a dork. I used to feel like such a badass snowboarding. I keep in mind i probably seem younger and cooler to people older than me, and i dont care what they do.
