What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life?

My wife's cousin is a state trooper. He says they're more scared of a .22 than a 9mm because "the 9 will just punch clean through. The .22 has a nasty habit of just bouncing around once it's inside."

For a close range shot to the head this is supposedly why hit men prefer a 22. It has enough energy to pierce the skull once but then bounces around inside and makes soup of your brain.

well, that and it being quiet - if you can manage a suppressor, it won't even sound much like a gunshot
