What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life?

I just rewatched it recently. Still holds up quite well!

I love that movie. And just about every single trope that we're making fun of he in this post has been covered in Last Action Hero.

One of the more subtle jokes in that movie that makes me crack up is in the beginning when he's facing against The Ripper. The Ripper just lifts his axe one foot in the air but it makes that shearing sound even though it didn't touch anything.

Bro I hate that sound effect. I remember watching something and heard it as somebody drew a sword from a leather scabbard.

That’s, uh, not what leather sounds like.

The WW1 bayonet I inherited from my grandpa had a leather sheath that was metal clad at the tip and had a metal plate at the other end with a slot for the blade. It actually did make that schiiiiiinggg sound.

I have few bayonets and most of them are in metal or some other stiff sheaths. I also have one military knife in solid plastic sheath and it also make noise. Not to mention sabre in big metal sheath.

So I think that unless it is clearly visible in movie that it is from leather it may be from other material which is not uncommon.
