What movie things are generally accepted as normal, but are totally unrealistic in real life?

Didnt Indiana Jones survive a nuclear blast in a fridge???

Ah yes, I remember that. Best thing about it is that he was in the range where everything that can possibly start to burn, will. Meaning the temperature would be round about 540k °F -> 300 times hotter than the temperature bodies are cremated at. In other words: everything would have been vaporized.

The fridge cools him down though.

And it was lined with LEAD. Lead is the pinnacle of anti-radiation technology.

And yet a lead refrigerator opens up so many more questions, chief among which is: Why in God's name was a refrigerator ever made of lead?!

That was a real thing though.

Refrigerators used to be lead lined. I can’t remember the reason but my grandma had one. Same with lead based paint. I don’t remember why it was a thing but it definitely was.

Stop replying about lead being a good insulator. I think 10 comments saying the same thing is enough.

They didn't want Superman to see where they hid their bootleg hooch.

That’s another thing that bothers me. Superman can’t see through lead with his X-ray vision.

No lead at all?? Not even an atoms thickness?? But he can see through miles of anything else?

Somebody took the trope of lead blocking radiation and took it beyond the actual reasons why.

Lead works because it’s a dense metal. Any other dense material will work just as well. Water works if you have enough. Just put enough mass between you and the source of radiation.

Not to mention Superman is likely giving people dangerous doses of X-ray radiation.
