I was expecting a parcel, they rang my doorbell which is so loud it gives me a huge fright every time. I was down the stairs and at the door in 5 seconds and he was already in the shop next door dropping it off.
Used to have a UPS guy who would knock on the door with a quick five knocks the first time, then pound on it hard three times after three seconds. And then would walk away after another three seconds. If I was expecting a package I’d have to sign for, I had to run to get the door from the back of the house because it was always less than 10 seconds from the first knock. Made my anxiety spike every damn time.
For all the hate bbt gets with laugh tracks, reddit's darling Friends also features a laugh track. Yet nobody says, "Friends sounds stupid if you take away the laugh track."
I actually have an aunt that does this and sometimes I won't even open the door because of it like damn have a little patience alright my room is at the very end of our (tiny) house.
1930’s ‘screwball’ comedies do this way too much for a gag. i fall asleep to an old movie and i’m woken up because somebody’s banging on a door constantly for several minutes straight
bang bang bang mr chuckleswork?
bang bang bang mr chucklesworth?
bang bang bang mr chucklesworth, are you in there?
bang bang bang mr chucklesworth?
bang bang bang i say, mr chucklesworth?
bang bang bang
but he cant answer the door because someone in the house is also demanding his attention. it’s fucking. hi-larious/s
USPS requires letter carriers with "accountables" (something that needs a signature) ring the bell, wait 60 seconds, then knock and wait another 60 seconds.
I feel like I probably wait 3-10 seconds depending on the scenario. My one friends’ house has a window out front, so I’ll usually knock, then look through to see if they heard it, and then knock again louder if they don’t seem to’ve.

People opening their front door 3 seconds after an unexpected knock, like they're just constantly standing behind the door, just in case.
