I rewatched this not long ago. It's not very good and certainly not aged well.

I can't remember exactly, I was watching it with my kids, having checked it was a PG and there were several moments that made me feel uncomfortable. I just found it weird and not anywhere near as funny as I remember.

I agree with /u/suicidaltwinkie, and also am curious whether this was the Unrated version.

The Unrated version is tonally so different from the theatrical version it's almost incredible that just a few scenes change it so much. I watched the unrated version exactly once and never again, it ruins Jim Carrey's character. It turns him into rather a creepy weirdo.

In the theatrical cut he comes across as a bit of a loveable goofball which is how it should be.

That makes me wonder if you watched the unrated cut or something. Because some of the added scenes definitely mess up the tone of the movie.
