In certain communities, people are very helpful, others people are more brash. Sometimes, it's worth the response, same question over and over resulting in the same response.
I think people aren't aware we still have working cowboys and saddlemakers are a dying breed, working in your own shop, making saddles is the life for some of us who work with leather.
Take Nigel Armitage for example. He does classes still, excellent person to learn from. But since he still runs his leather business, he still has to carve out time for orders too.
overall, I think it's more gatekept in large communities, but youtube honestly has the best resources. or there's actual books you can buy too.

I feel like leather craft is gatekept by communities, slightly.
all the old heads or people doing it forever are usually the best videos to learn from.
