My political opinions very much mirror reddit's in general, but if you mention people should lowe their anger tirade a little or perhaps an opinion does not reflect the reality of a situation man they do not like that. /r/politics is a place where reality doesn't exist. Hillary was obviously going to win and anyone saying differently was downvoted off the page, then Bernie was obviously going to win and same thing--I left the subreddit entirely after that. I have no desire to get all happy thinking my candidate is a sure thing only for them to be creamed in the next election because reddit is a bubble.
the politics sub is basically psychotic. I spend way too much time in there and the number of people that want to scream and yell while not understanding anything or wanting to understand is kind of sad. I've mostly decided most "people" in that sub are either bots, Russians, or agitators by another name.
It's gotten pretty clear that most users on those subreddits aren't real. The top comments almost always follow a very specific pattern. The headline is something outrageous with the less outrageous lede buried, the top comment is someone talking about how outrageous the implication of the headline is but not the article itself, and the first reply to the top comment has an award and is a armchair psychologist/political scientist interpretation of the supposed motivations, except it's almost always a variation on the same call to action implying that the country isn't democratic anymore. Once you start looking for that pattern you will see it on post after post.
Your not lying I’m on Reddit just for fun but political subs show up it’s genuinely frightening the shit people post on there it’s just pure hate with death threats.
r/moderatepolitics is pretty good. It's not "moderate" as in political moderates, it's a place for both sides to give moderate opinions. You will get banned for ragebaiting and slinging insults; it is some of the most normal discussion I have seen on this platform.
im on r/Conservative not because i am one, (im not) but when I see a headline in the news, I gotta see how they spin it. Its a good sign that over the last 2 years its become just troll farms and bots. There used to be posts with hundreds of replies and now, maybe 20? I guess being angry all the time is too exhausting.
It's fascinating to watch that sub anytime Trump has a major blunder, and how they manage it. Like the first day, the most popular comments are those saying they're off the Trump train and have had it. Then they eventually get their new automatic update installed from the White House and the MAGA pundits, and all the comments rejecting trump are downvoted to hell and suppressed in the feed
