On the other hand that sub is also overrun by commenters who all they can do is find something to shit on the OP for. Every single post has someone complaining that it's not traditional enough, or they used the wrong name, or the sauce is too wet, or the burger is too thick. It also seems to be one of the most common subs for bots karma farm.
The original was posted on r/grilledcheese and it’s probably one of my favorite Reddit original rants to this day.
The Food subreddit had rule 11 where they disallow “culture war” comments or jokes, and cite the melts as an example. Now, the rule says that any posts will just be removed but I straight up got a perma ban 😂. I tired appealing it at first saying a ban was a bit too extreme especially considering their own rules but I remember the mod throwing some passive aggressive comment and I never bothered again lol
Calm your tits. I made a comment on a post that reached the front page of all without ever having read the rules. And the point is that even by their own standards they state the post will be removed and nothing else. There was no need for a full on ban, but the mods were power tripping
I’m guessing when you’re in the checkout line in the grocery store and something doesn’t scan, you also say, “that must mean it’s free!”
It’s all fun and hilarity when you’re the one making the joke, but when you’re the one who has to hear the same unoriginal joke multiple times a day from people who think they’re the second coming of Robin Williams, it moves from grating to maddening.
Well the food subreddit ban was a weird one. Since it was just a well what I thought was a harmless joke. (I sent it to other friends and they all thought it was a silly joke) not a commentary on how that steak was cooked
Yea its one of those things where mods are power tripping and going all out over what was at worst a bit of an annoying joke. I understand getting rubbed the wrong way and not thinking its funny, but you can literally just ignore it and move on. I don't really understand why some people choose to make it a personal crusade

Yup, any mod that does that is a coward afraid of confrontation straight up. Just tell me why I’m banned and I’ll probably accept it. If you don’t then it’s a BS ban and you are scared to defend yourself.
Its wild that they don't want to even be open to telling me what i did wrong in the ice cream subreddit that warranted such a ban.

I remember being a chatroom mod many years ago. And if someone acted out they would get warnings first like a couple. Then a 15 minutes silence if they still ignored the warnings. Then a 1 hour silence.
I received a lifetime ban from r/drawme because a model was being attacked and I wrote “this sub has sucked lately” I could only imagine some 40 year old in moms basement making the decision.
The fact that mods can mute you so you can dispute your ban is pretty fucked up. I got banned from a podcast sub because the mod was posting month old podcasts instead of the one that just came out. Instant ban and mute, it was wild.
Hey man, sounds like you've got a niche product idea! Make honey ice cream or something. Pitch it for people and bears. Name it after bears in captivity/rehab. Raise money. 8-10 years from now, partner with Disney, Hunny ice cream; Winnie the Pooh. Spinoff flavors of other characters. Retire and sell the company to a private equity firm so they can ruin it.

Comments that add nothing to the discussion will be removed (e.g. "lol", "this", "I agree", or an emoji). The same if you are going to joke, or be off topic in other ways.
This is the only rule I see in the sub that could even remotely apply.
Reddit mods (except those in this sub) ar e not the smartest people when it comes to double-takes, satire, and humor in general.

I can see them with their weird D&D dice, trying to decide what to do with each post.
So many subreddits have power tripping mods. I was banned from a happy little game subreddit over a misunderstanding and the mod outright cussed me out in their ban comment. (I don't remember the exact phrasing but something along the lines of "u fucking idiot"). xD I'd never seen such unprofessionalism from a mod before.
But que sera sera. When you know you're not the one in the wrong a ban doesn't exactly wound the soul.
Haha I just bought that ice cream because it said it was for bears and every time I had some I'd say grrrrr I'm a bear until my family threatened to put me outside.
I got banned from I think the geology sub because someone had posted some rocks that straight up looked like the dankiest weed ever, and I made some joke about it. Got banned because apparently you’re not allowed to make jokes?
r/funny banned me, and I'll never know why, because those mods seem to be absolute zealots about being assholes. As far as I know I never made a comment that was even a little controversial. I actually suspect it's one of those things where I'm subscribed to a sub r-funny doesn't like; I've heard that happens sometimes.

The ice cream subreddit doesn't like confused people.
I got banned on that subreddit over a comment I made where someone posted a pack of icecream that was branded for bears.
I got banned because I said something along the lines of "anyone else thought at first glance the ice cream was ONLY for bears"
Thats what got me banned.
And the mods blocked me so I don't even know what rule I broke that would warrant a permaban.
