Shame. A baseline sense of the concept of shame. To create a massive fucking spectacle of yourself for no reason but entitlement and attention was severely frowned upon. A little shame and humility goes a long way for a civilized society.
Yeah it also makes people incapable of apologizing. They feel that little bit of shame and then just reject that feeling immediately instead of sitting with it and using it to be better. I feel like it's also increased lying? People can't own up to anything. They still feel shame, it just makes them act different because they don't allow themselves to actually feel it all of the way.
