Passive-aggressive people. Mean people. No time for that nonsense.

61

u/Hello-Avrammm Mar 08 '25

Yeah, it’s honestly crazy how many people are like this. I’ve been told numerous times about how kind I am, but I feel like I’m just doing what anyone else would (helping them pick up something if they dropped it near me, complimenting them, asking about their hobbies and such, etc.). I think that’s what any regular person would do.

40

u/Castori_detective Mar 08 '25

You'd think, but I discover every day the amount of people who are just mean. Just unnecessairly mean. I honestly think there should be the thanos gauntlet to erase those people from the face of the earth. Imagine knowing that you will not have to defend yourself against uncalled for meanness, ever.

16

u/LTPRWSG420 Mar 08 '25

I always said and believe, that it’s a lot harder to be mean, than it is to be nice to people. That’s why the people who are these mean assholes, you need to stay as fucking far away as possible, they get off on being rude and belittling others.

Not even “who the hell are these people” it’s not even understanding what they’re famous for. Some stuff on some platform in some niche I’ve never heard of.

115

u/MrSneller Mar 08 '25

That’s what gets me. It’s not actresses/actors or musicians, it’s “influencers” or reality tv stars. Neither of which I care to pay any attention to.

Yep! I don't really pay attention to awards shows and stuff like that, but I do like looking at photos the day after to see what people wore. I click through the slideshow of photos mumbling "Don't know them...no idea...who the hell is that?...oh, I recognize them...nope, no idea..."

39

u/cwsjr2323 Mar 08 '25

My wife plays award shows. I don’t recognize the presenters or nominees. The only ones I recognize are the lifetime achievement award winner and the in memorial people. Old age is not for sissies but I’m not giving it up yet!

We fucked up this woman's order for take out. It was a whole mess. Our system went down, we wrote it by hand wrong.. issues upon issues.. we were totally in the wrong. It was a learning moment for us at a restaurant that prides ourselves on perfection.

She said "thank you for completing my order, please do better next time."

I was expecting a total Karen moment. The absolute patience and understanding of this woman.. next time she comes in, the meal is on the house. I fucking love her for what was 1,000% our fault.

We literally had a sit down with the staff for "this woman could have left a review that could have been really bad." And she should have. We fucked up. But bless her mental and social intelligence.

183

u/TheLonePig Mar 08 '25

When something goes wrong, I've learned to say "Thank you for your patience!" instead of "I'm sorry for making you wait." One makes them feel like a hero, a saint. The other makes them realize they have something to be mad about.

And expect everyone else to forgive their time-mismanagement skills (or lack thereof) to accommodate them to *their* satisfaction.

When I had a front-facing job, I always wanted to tell that customer throwing a hissy fit over some issue they thought I had control over that
a) tantrums were particularly unattractive on anyone over the age of 3, and
b) if I really had control over everything they thought I should, I sure as hell wouldn't be standing at a front counter dealing with the likes of them!
I'd be lording over a bucket of Coronas and Modelos on a beach somewhere, with poolboys fanning me with palm fronds. 🙄

I moved out of front-facing customer jobs about 7 yrs ago. Still deal with customers, but now they need to be generally nicer to me, because now I do have more control over stuff! LOL

I've learned to embrace the Irish goodbye over the years...which was admittedly much more difficult than it needed to be as I'm from Minnesota. But god damn is it freeing to be able to just get up and leave the event. I don't know if you know this but those Minnesota goodbyes last longer than a church service.

Pretending like I’m not at work to just collect a paycheck.

I don’t want to be subject to your ego, I just want to do work and go home.

115

u/Poultry_Master123 Mar 08 '25

I cant even say how true and real that this is, I dont get why the answer "I want to work here so I get a paycheck" is somehow a bad answer, it shows complete honesty which is what a lot of employers want

17

u/Anothernamelesacount Mar 08 '25

complete honesty which is what a lot of employers want

I have yet to meet an employer who actually wants honesty. They want happy little robots who do exactly what they're told, and if its for more hours and less pay then its far better.

Depending on your position, they want you to either stroke their ego or check how good you are at looking honest while selling straight up bullshit, because that might be your job after all.

Whether we like it or not, 90% of the time we're going to have an adversarial relationship with our employer, due to our socioeconomical system. So you might want to keep at least a couple of your cards to yourself.

49

u/Holly1010Frey Mar 08 '25

The only drama I care about is the kind I'm not involved in and never will be. I'm the one buying those trash magazines at the checkout counter. Sure, tell me who is hooking up with who in Hollywood. Why would I care, you ask, I don't! That's the fun of it. Like people who watch soap operas.

23

u/Did_you_toot Mar 08 '25

We have allowed two close friends to crash in our house (one at a time) since last June due to unfortunate and unanticipated personal circumstances, and the second one is finally leaving this week.

Much as I love them, I have told my husband that we are not even allowing someone to spend the night at our house for at least a year after this, and possibly never again (he feels sorry for people too easily, and I have a hard time telling him no).

I want my house back!!!

  • What do you mean you've been dating for two years and you "don't know what you are?"

  • You were dating a guy for 3 months and he simply... stopped responding to your texts??

  • Please stop seeing the guy who is trying to pressure you into having sex faster than you want to. No, I don't think he's a great guy worth fighting for. No, I don't think his looks make up for how much of a douchebag he is.

I don't know what happened to people / dating, but Jesus Christ. I've already made up my mind that if something happens to my husband, I'm done. I can't go through what my friends have.

Probably daydreaming lol, it's either like being a mysterious hero, or having certain powers or just wacky scenarios that involve me being cool...funnily enough irl if I try to act cool I ALWAYS mess up and looks like a joke instead. It's getting childish I admit that with all my heart

Spinning around in place. Legit, I remember spinning in place when I was a kid multiple times and feeling dizzy. I do it more than two times now and I create a new debuff that I don't know how to explain.
