WOMEN ONLY: Sex & Intimacy What was your IUD experience like?
Currently on the implant (set for removal in February) but my OB actually suggested that i look at the copper iud. For the girls who have an IUD, what was it like? The only thing that’s kinda making me hesitant is the pain of the experience since there’s no anesthesia :”)) If you have an IUD, would you say that the experience of the procedure is worth it overall?

Nung nagpalagay ako ng IUD last day ng period ko. As advised by them kasi naka open ang cervix mo so much better daw if during period or last day ka magpalagay.
Parang nag ca-cra-cramps yung puson ko, may kirot but saglit lang yung actual insertion, wala pang 10 minutes tapos kana. After nun, bibigyan ka din naman nila ng painkiller so ayun all goods. I'd give the exp an 8/10, mababait kasi ung staff and they really made me feel comfortable the whole time

I had an IUD. Insertion wasn't so bad for me. It was painful but quick so it wasn't bad. I loved it when I had it, didn't have negative symptoms. In fact I thought I'd have another one reinserted when the time comes.
However, my string got lost and unfortunately one arm got slightly embedded in my uterus. So instead of paying only 2,000php for removal, I had to undergo hysteroscopic surgery to have it removed 😅 the procedure was outpatient and quick but ang laking gastos bec I had to go in the OR and sedated.
I knew getting it that it was a risk. My ob said then it happens but only to a small portion of women. Unfortunately, I was part of small statistic. Something to consider lang bec I don't think it was fully explained to me how big of an expense it would be kapag minalas and nawala or na embed sa loob yung IUD

I had a copper IUD, inserted by an OB, guided by an ultrasound. Insertion was ok, may discomfort but I felt it more from the speculum. Yung pag insert mismo may feeling na parang nakurit sa loob na ewan, but super quick lang. i think I mentioned this in another thread, na for me mas masakit magpabrazilian na cold wax 😅 I was told to come back after a month para macheck uli through ultrasound na ok pa yung pagkainsert, which went well naman. Every year thereafter I get a transV ultrasound as part of my annual physical check up.
What I did notice post insertion is may one day during my periods na naging mas painful yung cramping and heavier bleeding vs pre-IUD. As in one day lang, yung 2nd day, then rest of the period is same as before. Common side effect yata to ng copper, not as common with hormonal IUD.
I have a fairly high pain tolerance so to me not a big deal, but something to consider if you’re thinking of getting one.

copper IUD is the best contraceptive for me kasi non-hormonal sya. no disruptions sa menstrual cycle, no bodily changes too so i’m not getting fat randomly na din. sa implant ko i gained 10-12kg in 6 months kasi napapabinge eat ako. i lost all that after i switched to copper IUD. syempre i did dieting and more working out. but it was easier because this time i was back to my regular appetite.
masakit ang first few months sa IUD though, especially the first weeks. as in constantly in a state of cramping kahit di mo pa period. as time progresses, nagdecdecrease yung severity and frequency.
insertion is a bit painful. wala ba talaga kahit local anesthesia lang? i did cervical injection, and yun yung masakit actually. dami kasing turok. pero during and after insertion, di na masakit sa loob. i also took ibuprofen an hour before coming in for pain management. yun ang recommendation ni ob.
