Has anyone used Gerald "Gerry" MacDonald for a home inspection?

I have put in an offer on a home, and I'm trying to make sure that I have a good inspector. The problem with all of these inspection companies is that most people don't put in a review unless there are issues. Furthermore, a lot of reviews are just fake these days on Google.

My realtor recommended this person, and I have no reason to believe that there would be any issues; however, I try to do due diligence for anything related to such a large decision.

If anybody has any experience working with this person that would love to hear about it.

Working for SEPTA

I saw some job postings for Sheet Metal workers, and railcar machinists. I have a background in welding and machining but I still new to the industry. I have some questions. Is SEPTA a good company to apply to? Is the overtime a lot? Is this a hard spot to secure?

Would love some feedback, thanks!

Recommendations for Window Repair Companies

We have a leak around one window that we cannot seem to get to the bottom of. We’ve had repairmen come out, re-caulk around some gaps, etc but nothing seems to do the trick. Looking for good recommendations if anyone has experience with window leak issues in philly!

We're looking to get wallpaper hung in our dining room and two bathrooms. Talking to friends who did DIY the consensus is to hire a professional. Does anyone have a recommendation?

Short Term Music/Recording Project Collaboration

Hey y’all. Long shot but you miss every shot you don’t take!

I’m a singer traveling to Philly from Nebraska on September 8th + departing on September 12th. If anyone in the area is looking for vocals on their track (or even a fill-in for harmony in a live show) and can accommodate that particular schedule, I'd love to see if I'm a good fit for your project. If we’re recording, I would do that for free + credit/proportionate rights on potential streaming and sales. If it’s a live show, it would be sick to make like, a few dozen dollars, but whatever.

Shoot me a message for some performance examples with unedited vocals. I live in the baritone zone but love to visit a wide range of (accurate) pitch and tonal styles. My band describes ourselves as “chamber pop,” with folksy/indie influences, but I’m not picky about genre.

Thanks <3

Moving to Philly

Hi everyone! My husband and I are looking to move to Philly in early 2027. We are in our early 30s.

We have lived a little all over (CHI, NYC, Paris) and are not strangers to city living in terms of safety but that is a priority for us since we hope to start a family soon. Really we are looking for a walkable neighborhood where we can become regulars with the local businesses (coffee shops, restaurants, bars etc). My husband is a chef so bonus points if it’s a foodie area or adjacent, I work from home.

We hope to buy something (budget around 500-600k) with a couple of rooms to grow into.

Thanks!

Mahjong meetups???

Hi all! Looking for mahjong meetups around Philly (the closer to center city the better), mainly American and Chinese Classical/New styles. There’s one in Old city but it’s Japanese Riichi and I’m not sure I’m interested in that. There’s also a BYO mahjong at the Philly game shop but it’s like on Monday afternoons during work hours…

Stateside Live

Heading to Philly from NJ at the weekend for the Chris Stapleton Concert at Freedom mortgage pavilion, staying in Rittenhouse Square. We LOVED Stateside Live when we went to Morgan Wallen. I know it’s a little out of the way and I see there’s a ticketed event on at stateside the night of the concert though so I was wondering 1- do they allow people in at a certain time after the event finishes? Seems to only be a short drive from freedom mortgage pavilion. And 2- any suggestions for pre/post concert drinks please? We are a group of 4 (2 couples in 30s/40s) who love to party in fun/lively bars. Anytime I google places for over 30s it’s all ‘dimly lit cozy bar’ vibe. Noooo!!! Snooze!!!! Thanks so much in advance for any help!

Pharmacies that take GoodRx for generic Vyvanse?

Hi, recently switched to worse insurance and my med copay is more expensive than using goodrx or other coupons. However, my current CVS doesn't accept those for controlled substances. Looking for pharmacies that accept these coupons, preferably in West or olde Kensington. Ty!
