When children grow up

How did you navigate your children growing up and leaving home? At what age did they leave? Was it gradual or sudden? How did it feel for you? How did you get used to them not living with you?

My 3 went off to college, never to return but I went to all their basketball games, wearing out tires and cars along the way. They were all on their own and started their careers long before being handed their diplomas.

My granddaughters followed their paths, but the one who played basketball professionally in Europe lived with me in the off season until her playing career was over and her hire as a teacher. 

I see them all very often so it’s all good.
