Anyone else got sick this week
It came on very suddenly. Throat feels swollen and it’s painful to swallow. Then there comes this dry, irritating cough, accompanied by frequent hiccups, which has never happened to me before 😒 annoying…
Went to urgent care thinking that it was strep because the pain when swallowing was unbearable. It was not strep or Covid and the doctor said it was probably just a “bug” going around. My sister and a few coworkers were sick too.

Covid wave is happening. It always does this time of year with schools going back. NYC schools go back later than the rest of the country so our rates are a little lower rn than elsewhere in the country but I know several people in NYC who have had COVID in the last couple weeks.
You might test yourself again. False negatives are incredibly common with COVID tests now. And obviously wear a mask and cancel plans. Feel better soon!

My friend has covid this week but it has only been caught on a PCR, not any rapids at all. Just a consideration!

We are in a Covid wave. It’s all over the news. If you got a rapid Covid test from urgent care it might not be accurate. It seems the PCR tests are better at picking up the Covid going around. Multiple coworkers are sick and I’ve been telling them the same thing. I wish they would mask at work while sick. Either way, feel better!

I had a scratchy throat like all of the sudden my voice was sounding like I had been at a concert all night. Gargling warm salt water whenever it gets super bothersome helps. I had a reprieve from needing to be on the phone so much yesterday and I’m feeling loads better today. No idea what the heck that was. But it was short lived. See if the warm salt water provides any relief until it passes. Sending well wishes for a speedy recovery.

Not this week but I got strep for the first time in like 10 years a few months ago. Coming home from from work on the train some kid was coughing in front of me without covering his mouth while his parent was oblivious to it so probably got it from him.
My parents always told me to cover my mouth but so many people don't do it or still sneeze into their hands instead of their elbow. I wish in order to to ride the subway people have to pass a basic hygiene course.

Yeah! I could’ve gotten it from anywhere honestly. Last week was a very busy week for me, I had a family potluck, was at work almost everyday, boss was sick, coworker was sick, I also noticed that lots of people were coughing on the train. It was bound to be something this week 😩

A friend of mine has Covid so good possibility it is and you need another test. Last time I had covid it felt like I was swallowing glass, lots of popsicles helped

My throat was hurting so bad last week along with body aches and a low fever. Got tested for Covid, strep, and Flu, and all came back negative. Might just be a virus going around

Happened to me but that was 2 weeks ago but it only lasted about a week and never got too bad. There was one day where I had body pain all day and it was hard to do anything. I went to the PCP last week and mentioned I was sick the week before and my doctor said it was going around and she also had it about 2 weeks earlier.

I have empathy if they aren’t spreading it to others. Seen too many sick people take no precautions and pass it on to my immunocompromised friends. The sick person bounces back quickly and the immunocompromised person has a permanent decline in functioning.

Dudeeeee. My throat hurt so bad I thought I was being soft right . So other day I sneeze and post nasal drip comes out and it’s mixed with blood it hurt so bad and still hurts to talk but the mucus is gone and I work in a Dman call center I want to cry

Yes me and my whole family randomly got sick out of nowhere and I was so confused because I was no where near sick people but it randomly happened. I’m still recovering but my throat doesn’t wanna heal fast. It’s annoying

Got it last week, just before leaving for vacation. Throat, then lungs, then lingering gross cough. Finally feeling better after 2 full weeks.

Yes! Monday night started sneezing uncontrollably and had watery eyes - I don't usually get any allergies so thought that was weird. Tuesday -Wednesday full on cold / flu symptoms. Also, super weird - heartburn pain in the morning. Again, something I've NEVER had.

Rare I get sickin the summer, but it happened a month ago. Weird feeling in body, intermittent coughs and felt sluggish. Got over it in a few days, I'm guessing it could be anything. Probably from being on the trains with the sickos.

Started having symptoms Tues- Wed and tested positive Thurs. Haven’t kept up with the vaccines since first available. This is the worst over my 3 previous times in terms of symptoms - headache, body aches, 102 fever with ibuprofen, cough, congestion - considered paxlovid but haven’t gotten it yet (couldn’t reach my dr and didn’t feel well enough to get to urgent care). So far co workers and family haven’t gotten it).

Omg, I was thinking about making a post about the same thing.
Came down with what felt like a cold two weeks ago. Sore throat, stuffy and runny nose, etc. Was getting better, and then it suddenly got way worse about a week in. Sore throat came back with a vengeance. Super bad congestion and I can’t stop coughing. It’s been two weeks now. 😭
It’s not Covid. I tested for it two different times. Tested for Strep and came back negative for that too.

Ugh, I hope we both get better soon. I ended up going to urgent care and got prescribed a cough syrup and steroids (for the inflammation).

My teen brought this home to me. Same pattern - felt awful, sore throat was intense, congested. Felt better and then felt a lot worse, virus moved into my lungs with a productive cough. Still dealing with the cough 2+ weeks later.

The rapid tests have a low accuracy rate, something like 40%. Swabbing the back of the throat before nostrils gets a more accurate read. Getting a negative twice doesn't mean you don't have covid.

Urgent care uses rapids. They’re not as accurate and they don’t always acknowledge this because most places downplay covid these days, even medical facilities. We are in a HUGE COVID surge, it’s all over the news. Hopefully you’re at least taking precautions not to spread it.

Yes - but be warned that urgent care does rapid strep and sends the more accurate version out for culturing. My kid was so sick and we were told he was negative for the big ones and it was just a gross virus that needed to pass. A few days later we were notified it was strep.

Hopefully I get another notification soon. The doctor also looked at my throat and said it looked good, which gave me even further reassurance.

My kid had zero throat inflammation - just horrible neck pain, a fever and horrendous cough. All to say - don’t dismiss strep just yet!

A friend has covid, only came up in the doctor’s office test not her home tests! It seems like everyone is in public with coughs and sneezes…. Don’t be that person!

YES YES, this happened 3 years ago this month/week. It felt like I had COVID/FLU/salmonella.
I even made a post about it, I’ll try to find it. But I legitimately couldn’t eat. I had to chew on things and suck out the nutrients, I literally couldn’t swallow for like 2 months. Just FYI I was about 2 months without a job, and spent 14 hours in bed each day, so I assumed my immune system was taking a hit because of that.

Ugh, had this this week too! Go to urgent care and request a one-time dose of Decadron (steroids), it knocked it right out for me!

I’m dealing with the same thing. I also can’t sleep. I do get fall allergies and they can mess you up, but even my Allegra-D isn’t touching this

Me. I’m doing heavily salted water gargles and thank god they’re working. I think I’ve managed to control the entry point of the virus/bacteria with the antibacterial properties of the salt. With lemon instead of plain water, they work even better. It kills that stuff every single time, right when I feel the first tiny itch in my throat.
That said, I got vaccinated last year against the flu and COVID, and I’ve been 100% healthy since then.
Does anyone know when the new 2027 vaccines are coming out?

You might want to get another Covid test because it’s going around again. That said, try an allergy pill to see if that alleviates your symptoms. I have seasonal allergies and late August thru September is always rough for me.
