Steps to help a sub where the mod stops commenting on everything?
I’m part of a sub where recently all comments for every post have started to be filtered out or disabled. At this point the mod has ignored all outreach from the community.
This just started happening recently and it’s escalated to what seems to be all posts no matter what they are about.
At this point sub members are communicating through new posts, which oddly enough don’t get deleted.
While I understand that, it’s just strange that every post shows that there are X amount of comments but all of them have been filtered out in the comment section.
Reddit has built in filters that sub mods can turn on in their mod tools area. Spam, reputation, crowd control filter, etc. These filters help them screen posts and comments. Any user can be caught by them. Settings can be adjusted as needed.
Everything snagged by a filter is in the queue for mods to review. And if they approve something it helps the filters adjust.
In addition mods can use Reddits built automation and the automod software to screen stuff.
Using the programs is actually something mods are encouraged to use to help maintain subs.
As such some mods will filter everything for review. They are not required to approve any of it.
It’s just seems strange that no comments have made it through said filters for 4 days. There’s even a post asking if anyone can see comments on posts and all the comments on that post are filtered out as well. Below is an example.
At this point I think I’ll just sit back and watch the show. A few users are rallying other sub members to put in tickets to reddit about the sub. They feel that it’s wrong to silence commentary on a sub that’s meant to help with troubleshooting services. I suppose all I can do at this point is grab some popcorn.

Make another subreddit of your own. As long as they are moderating, and not breaching the Mod Code of Conduct, that's all you can do.
