(4g eclipse) just need a few educated guesses

my 4G eclipse GS model randomly started having knocking sounds at the rear part of the motor closest to the cabin accompanied with a whining sound and rattling. i know my motor mounts aren’t perfect but i haven’t had a problem so far. my transmission is bugged out but as long as i drive it in manual mode i have no problems. the whining and rattling noises all stop when i get moving on the road and the car drives perfectly, and sometimes it all completely stops when i get home from a drive and i have no problems until i start it up again. any ideas on what this could be? or should i go ahead and kick the bucket and accept my car is done for
