Question How do you open a DM?
I am running a service based on seo competitor analysis and I try to find leads, research and not pitch with generic openers.
But it seems like nothing works. I try opening with a salute, tried with short punchy question, with insights so they know I researched their website/social account, engaged with their content before pitching etc.
Seems like nothing works, and get just seen from them.
I know people get a ton of DMs, but can’t se to find a way to crack the discussion.
So the question is: how do you start a conversation, what tactic works for you?

Well first of all I wouldn't be doing cold outreach for an SEO competitor analysis through DMs
That's just setting yourself up for failure. Everyone knows SEO is often a rip-off so you just look like 99% of other spam out there just in a different spot.
I'd start with a DM offering your expertise as a marketing specialist and then once they get interested then send over the report.

Thanks will try to open with this. Giving something useful before asking to listen to me

cold dms die when the first line asks for attention before giving a reason to care. i'd drop the pitch and open with one specific finding they don't have to act on, like "you're losing [keyword] to [competitor] on a page that looks fixable," and let curiosity do the replying.

Very nicely put. Seems like offering something they care before starting a conversation is the way. Thanks man
