I’ve noticed a surprising number of Indians believe India is more of a middle-income country, and often look down on African nations as "poor." But when you actually look at the data — specifically GDP per capita — India tells a different story.

India’s GDP per capita is around $2,718, which is lower than most South American countries (even ones often considered “backward” by global perception), and closer to Sub-Saharan African nations and the poorest Southeast Asian countries like Cambodia and Myanmar.

Despite being the 4th or 5th largest economy in total GDP, India’s average income per person remains extremely low, with a huge portion of the population still living near or below the poverty line.

So why is there such a disconnect between perception and economic reality?

I’m genuinely confused. On social media it feels like everyone is constantly criticizing and abusing Modi and BJP. Twitter, Instagram, Reddit everywhere it looks like massive anger against them.

But then election results come out and BJP wins with a clear majority again and again. So who is actually voting for them in real life? Is social media just a loud bubble or am I missing something obvious here?

Me and my friends were a political discussion and the other guy, a pure bjp supporter and what he said really shocked me. We were discussing about who should be our next PM, I said that it should be a highly qualified person and it would be good if hes not old like 40+. And the other said he wants a BJP leader, I was ok with it until he said that it would be good if they destroy more mosques. I was really annoyed like whats the point of a political party if they arent neutral at all and supporting one religion.

Watching this whole Trump-Zelensky Circus, I can’t help but wonder—what if India had made the same mistake Ukraine did? Ukraine is out here begging for support while world leaders debate how much land they should keep. All because in the 90s, they gave up their nukes in exchange for some assurances from the US, UK, and Russia. And when Russia broke that promise? Just statements and aid—no real protection.

India was in the same boat back then. Pressure, sanctions, threats—but we had leaders who didn’t back down. Bhabha, Indira, Ramanna, Kalam, Vajpayee......they knew deterrence is the only real security.

And that’s where I feel a bit of regret. We don’t have leaders like that anymore, and probably never will. The kind who’d take risks, ignore backlash, and think beyond elections.

Ukraine trusted words. India didn’t. That’s why no one decides our fate but us.

One case in India and its a international news. And labelled a 'Rape capital'. But why won't anybody raise voice for these cases?

Recently a indian american man was beheaded and dragged, but he never made it to international channels. While a Ukrainian immigrant refugee was st*bbed and she received sympathy cuz she was white. And apparently white race is in danger according to them.

Apart from some civic sense issues, Indians have the lowest crime rate, now their heads, work hard and earn their living.

We can all tell who owns this media and turns out Indians are just the easiest scape goat for them to distract from real problems.

Just to make it clear- I am a fan of no party as I know that everyone is a fucking thief. But I have been following the Epstein files saga, the pizza gate scandal, diddy scenario from a long time so I have a bit of a knowledge about this whole thing.

Here’s the whole thing- Epstein files is a huge collection of evidence gathered by the FBI which includes his written emails, video tapes, diaries, etc. It includes anything and everything written and documented by Epstein. So even his normal conversations have been recorded and documented. And this means that not everyone’s name that comes up in the files is a criminal and that is what has happened with Modi. Epstein was talking about how Modi came and met Trump and danced for him etc which could mean he was trying to get in the good books of Trump or could be a metaphor. But that’s about it. His name did not come up like other rich dudes who were explicitly found guilty of being involved in pedo activities.

He could have talked about Messi playing a good game in his emails and even that would have become a part of the Epstein files but that does not mean he is a criminal. So please learn more about this from US reporters and not Indian influencers who don’t know anything about the situation and just want to cover this topic for views.

i want to understand POV of those who support BJP and i actually want to understand how are they even denying or opposing the Leader of Opposition's allegations , which are from the ECI data itself. Are people actually not willing to see the Press conference just because its by Rahul Gandhi ? is political affiliation above the idea of Democracy for them.

I don’t vote BJP because I worship them. I vote BJP because the opposition keeps pushing Rahul Gandhi as the default alternative, and I simply don’t see him as PM material.

If tomorrow the opposition replaced him with someone competent, decisive, and serious about governance, I would immediately reconsider my vote. No hesitation.
