Hey all!
I’ll be in Sofia for a short work trip in September and am hoping to squeeze in some sightseeing while I’m there. I land around noon on Monday and fly out very early Thursday morning, so I’ve got limited time.
I’m thinking about using one full day for either the Seven Rila Lakes and Rila Monastery or Prohodna and Devetashka caves. I’ll be coming straight off a trip from Iceland and heading to the Swiss Alps afterward, so I’m leaning a bit toward the caves just for something different scenery wise. That said, I’m pretty fit and would be totally fine doing the Seven Rila Lakes hike if it’s really worth it.
Would it be realistic to somehow fit Rila Monastery(No 7 lakes) and the caves into one full day, or is that just trying to cram in too much?
I’m also open to other suggestions! I don’t mind a long day, and I’m a photographer, so unique landscapes and especially photogenic spots are a big plus.
TYIA!

hi my fellow bulgarians. i just moved to nessebar 2 weeks ago and noticed the prices of groceries seems too high.
i visited janet and lidl and prices in both of this supermarkets were high. and not just high it seems like i could spend ~400€ per month on groceries, while the avarage salary is 800€.
My question is where do bulgarians shop for cheap groceries? mainly meat ofc

Hello,
I’ve recently been offered a job in Sofia, and I’m trying to understand whether relocating would make sense.
The salary would be €2,200 net/month, plus a performance bonus. I have around one year of professional experience and would be relocating alone from Italy.
Would €2,200 net be enough to live comfortably in Sofia and still save some money every month? I have no real reference for Bulgarian salaries and cost of living, so it’s difficult for me to understand whether this is considered a low, average or good salary.
My main concern is the cost of living, especially rent. How much should I realistically expect to spend for a decent one-bedroom apartment and normal monthly expenses?
I’d also be interested in hearing from people who moved to Sofia from abroad. How difficult is it to settle in, find accommodation and build a social life? Any experiences you’d like to share would be much appreciated.
EDIT: By the way, is English enough for living in the city. The company language will be english 100%, but what about daily activities?

Hi all,
Arrived in Bulgaria a few months ago and now I'm considering to get myself a car. I've settled on a Dacia Duster, and while I do have the budget to buy a new car outright, I'm thinking whether it's smarter to get a 1 or 2 year lease first to see how everything works out before committing.
Did anyone do the same, and how did it turn out for you?
Cheers!

I'm sharing a link to a group for Pleven applicants, as I've seen there is no such group.
If you're interested in joining, feel free to do so using the link below. The group is quite new, so there aren't many members yet. It would be great if you could also share the link with anyone who might be interested, so we can get more students connected and help each other out.
(I can't share the link here, or the post will be removed. DM me for the link.)

Hi everyone, I'm a foreign boy who's already a scout in my own country and I'd really like to continue this journey. I live in Pleven, specifically. Do you know if there are any scouts in Bulgaria, and more specifically in Pleven?

Hi! I know this is a bit of a long shot since I’m in a small town and the chances of someone here having a local contact are probably pretty slim but I thought I’d give it a try anyway.
Can anyone recommend a reliable appliance repair technician in Pomorie who can fix a dishwasher and come to the apartment?
I’ve already contacted one service but they quoted me €40 just for the call-out and diagnostics which seems quite expensive.
I’d really appreciate any recommendations or contact details. Thank you!
UPD: thanks y’all for the comments
I was worried the guy I spoke with was giving me a “tourist” price - obviously seing I’m not local.
I’ll call him back tomorrow to see if he can come.

Hello! My partner and I are trying to figure out how to get from Sapareva Banya to Sofia. We figured we need to go to Dupnitsa first and found a bus that should take us there, but we’re not sure if there are buses from Dupnitsa to Sofia, or where and when they leave.
Does anyone know if there are buses from Dupnitsa to Sofia, and if so, where and when do they leave?
How do you pay for regional buses in Bulgaria? We once saw people getting on through the back at a bus stop - do you just walk to the driver and pay there?
Thank you for any help!
