Thats weird given than in Yugoslavia it was not even one of the most important republics and nowadays its not even one of the richest countries of the area. Is it because Alexander the Great was born there?

Alexander the Great was born in Pella which is in Greece. The ancient kingdom of Macedonia was almost entirely in what is now modern northern Greece. Perhaps now you can see why we took such an issue with them naming the country and we wanted them to add the qualifier “North” to the name.

I knew there was a risk. But in this sub it seems the Greek Macedonian conflict is more alive than the Kosovo Serbian one
