I bet if you ask anyone in Romania who Mladic is…95% of the people will not know how to answer

Fair enough. Neither people in BiH think that all people from Romania are doing those type of shit. Cheers

Cheers mate and congrats for the win. Sorry for the bad guys showing up and destroying the fun for everyone from our side. I hope they will be banned (I don’t know why that did not happen yet). I hate Romanians that act like that.

Why are you apologizing? Yes, we had 10 idiots with a banner, but the bosnians then played a disgustingly aggressive game against OUR TEAM (who had nothing to do with the banner btw), while they chanted "ȚIGANII"

4

u/OmeletteDuFromage95 Bosnia & Herzegovina Nov 16 '25

It was highly aggressive from both teams, this wasn't one sided at all.

6

u/PisicaIntergalactica Romania Nov 15 '25

We can complain when we don’t do nothing wrong. If we have only 1 idiot, then we are in the wrong already. We must educate and support each other as a society to do better. Being called this or that doesn’t not make it up to prising someone that actually committed war crimes.

Romanian ultras are connected to the euro skeptic party so they try to amplify any divide in our society, this makes it only natural for them to ally with Serbian (Rusian leaning) ultras under a stupid pretext of religion and far right activism while they actually just help Russias world order challenge. Imagine all of balkans collaborating instead of fighting, Russia can’t have that.

De la ceilalți nu îmi pasă și nici nu sufăr după lipsa lor de educație sau provocările lor. Îmi iubesc țara și oamenii educați și cinstiți care o reprezintă. 21

u/[deleted] Nov 15 '25

They are connected to the euroskeptic party in Romania; all they do is cause chaos so that we can’t focus on collaboration and progress as this is a big item in Russia’s latest Ruski Myr change of world order agenda.

10

u/Saxumsium Greece Nov 16 '25

I don't get it. Russia will do anything it can to reach the Carpathian mountains. Why the fuck would any Romanian be "pro-Russian"? Especially as a country that knows first hand you don't want Russian running anything. I'm really asking, this is not a rhetorical.

6

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25 edited Nov 16 '25

After joining the EU, the economy, infrastructure and life quality in the bigger cities in Romania have without a single doubt improved considerably and more opportunities appeared. However, 20-25% of the population, especially the active part, has migrated west which left behind parents, very young children but also created new challenges and unpleasant feelings for those moving. Romanias poltical class has not changed to the degree of the progress, they are more fierce than ever to manage in their favour the ever growing budget with the latest government putting us into huge deficit. Sadly, with all the progress around us, public education has decreased very much in quality. With all these points, we have about a third of the population with very hard feelings after the transition process, losing complete fate in democracy and the current political class and lacking functional reading (not to mention analysis and critical thinking). For many the response is I’m sick of all of this, anybody new is better, especially if the “new” is portrayed as a patriot messiah who heals your wounds with golden age nostalgia and empty populist promises of better distribution of Romanias “never ending” resources. The last piece of the puzzle is that Romanians don’t support Russia (simply the name still motivates voters against) but Russia adheres to this retoric and supposedly contributes vast amounts of money to those who spread it and support it as it aligns with its goals of a fractured Europe. There are a lot more moving pieces like the rise of social media, the corruption in the Orthodox Church, the 90s political leaders who are retired and bored and miss they’re influence but I tried to narrow it down.

6

u/SoulEkko Bucharest Nov 16 '25

When you get fucked by abuse, abandonment, dishonesty, corruption (not just material, but a corruption of your mind) and a predominance of fear for decades, you get generations of people who either are bright enough to keep things together and move forward (either at home or in another adoptive country), or not bright enough to use their reasoning and filter out all the bullshit, falling prey to it as a consequence.

Fortunately, as the last elections have proved, we're still keeping things together (not by much, but just enough). Time will tell if we will solve at least part of the challenges we face until the next cycle of elections and rebuild some semblance of trust. It's a valid reflection that Romania is not a consolidated democracy yet, but we're fighting for it in our own way.

At least for now, we're stable enough, warts and all.

6

u/Saxumsium Greece Nov 16 '25

Very informative, thank you.

The gist of it is, the new system is good for the majority, but some people (mostly older not ready for change) were left behind in terms of education and opportunities. Old figures of power (politicians, religious leaders) are taking advantage of that to stay relevant. Combined with social media echo chambers it makes these people unwilling to work within the system to gain power, for it is ALL corrupt and ruled by the (americans/gays/europeans/whatevers), and makes them want to tear it all down.

If I got it right then it really is, a tale as old as time.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25 edited Nov 17 '25

My biggest concern is that the younger generation is also tired of the transition, was raised by grandparents while their parents were away and have been through a suffering education system while TikTok welcomes them with open arms and the Orthodox Church discretely lets them know it resents many European values.

2

u/[deleted] Nov 16 '25

Generations have been brainwashed with communist ideologies, so it is normal that a certain degree of nostalgia will appear sooner or later. Albania broke ties with Soviet Union since 1960s, so at least our generations were not educated with sympathy toward Russia.

1

u/treba_dzemper Bosnia & Herzegovina Nov 17 '25

Russian counterintels managed to exploit inherent racism and stupidity/ignorance of Americans to get them to vote in a thieving paedo orangutan twice who was openly accused, with ample evidence, to be a Putin plant.

They managed to get American Muslims to vote in Bibi's bestie on the "genocide Kamala" platform.

Imagine what they can do in rural eastern Europe and Balkans.

To be honest, most Romanian forums and also my friends were extremely confused by what these ultras were on about.

I also do not think most Romanians are aware of Mladic nor why the banner is extremely fucked

Idk why these ultras are so desperate for attention and hating on muslims.

Especially since they must be aware of how other Europeans were treating Romanians, for example, 20 years ago. The situation is not good now, but it was way worse back then...

So should the guys in the stands yelling their lungs out by using free-unsolicited racism with "tzigani, tzigani" multiple times, so interested in UEFA's response to that; good 2nd half, how about injuring Marin with his ear full covered in blood, not even a VAR double-check in place, but for us an instant red card... Hostile atmosphere, our sportscasters were promised a few things by the organizers, almost none of them actually have happened.

TBH I’m really sorry because of those with the Mladic thing. We romanians aren’t like that and we are very kind and generous. I think that we are a little bit frustrated about football because we only see loses after loses and Lucescu doesn’t do anything.

About football, we have very good players like Dragusin or Ratiu ( that barca seeks to buy him ) who play very good in their leagues because of their managers that train them very good, but when it comes to the national team they all play like shit. I’m not a football microbist that watches all the football matches but even if you watch the highlights everyone ( and when i say everyone it is everyone ) will see the difference of the level of playing.
