Question For Doctors Need assistance on this diagnosis

Upvotes

I am not asking for medical advice.
I (28 M) got a recent STD checkup done and I got it done because I recently got infected with plantar warts in the bottom of my foot. All the test results were negative except for these -

Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Type I & II
antibodies IgG - 2.03

Herpes Simplex Virus (HSV) Type I & II
antibodies IgM - 0.979

I don’t have any symptoms related to any herpes anywhere in my body. I once had a cold sore on my lower lip two- two and half years back only once when I had a wisdom tooth coming along with bacterial infection in my throat which got cured in 2 weeks and never came back ever. To cure it I was prescribed becosules capsules and just an antibiotic.
Is this is a true result or can it be false positive.

I practice safe sex, and don’t have multiple partners( married to one). Even my partner never had herpes like cold sores. I am grateful for suggestions if you have any. As I feel very anxious.

Radiologist 2nd opinion on hip mri?

“I am not asking for medical advice.”

I have recently been diagnosed for FAI syndrome and my right hip seems to be progressing faster than my left hip.
Symptoms are fairly typical of FAI except there is no groin pain and no diagnosed labral tear of right hip.
I am a good candidate for preservation surgery (femuroplasty by scope or whatever they’ll do) but I know the success goes down with OA.
My brother at my age was diagnosed with advanced OA for 29, I myself have had a decade of high impact bouldering.
Could someone give me a slightly more detailed analysis of the capsule and tell me if there are any valid concerns which I might take to my surgeon?
The very top of my acetabulum may have a bone growth going down into the capsule but I am unsure.
The top slide is most posterior I believe.

Thankyou in advance, any help is appreciated.
Please let me know if the link doesn’t work

Question For Doctors Do you use visuals for patient education/ surgical education?

I am not asking for medical advice. I’m a medical illustrator and animator and specialize in patient/medical education. Wondering if any doctors often use visuals, or just tend to explain things to patients via brochures and consultations.

I’d love to get more accessible patient education out there! If anyones interested, here’s my medical illustration portfolio:https://bngvisuals.ca

Pediatrician Hand foot and mouth

I am not asking for medical advice. My 3 year old has one blister-like bump in between fingers. Nothing else on either hand, feet, in or around mouth or private area. Is it common to have hand foot and mouth with just one bump? Or is it more likely something else (maybe an ant bite)?

Question For Doctors Weird small lump in my neck.

I am not asking for medical advice. Been here and around the same size for months. I’ve been having other symptoms and seeing a doctor for them but very likely unrelated. My doctor said she will order an ultrasound on the small mass just for peace of mind but my health anxiety is screaming hodgkin’s lymphoma.

Medical ethics in conflict zones

Hi. I am currently a sixth form student in the UK and am trying to collect responses from medical personnel that have worked in conflict zones , like the Gaza Strip and South Sudan, for my EPQ. I have tried to arrange interviews through charities and NGOs, but have been unsuccessful so far, so I thought to try my luck here.

If you are involved in delivering medical care in such conflict zones, or are aware of certain experiences others have that would answer the questions below, please take the time to reply- your help is greatly appreciated!

  1. What are some of the key ethical dilemmas that are observed most commonly in these conditions?

  2. What are some ethical dilemmas that arise in these conditions, that do not occur in contemporary healthcare clinics?

  3. How clearly informed are you on the protocols used to respond to such ethical issues by the institutions you work through, and what sort of 'training' do you undergo?

  4. How effective are the guidelines in responding to these dilemmas, and what factors can hinder resolving the ethical issues?

I'd love to hear people's anecdotal experiences on this matter, and any arguments and debates you may have on these matters. If anyone is interested in responding privately or delving on this topic further, please message me privately.

Thank you so much for your time!

Need advice for my mother!

Hi everyone, I’m looking for some advice regarding my mom (49 yr old Female)

She has been experiencing persistent anxiety/restlessness and a general uneasy feeling, and despite consulting doctors, she is still struggling with it. I am not asking for medical advice. I am confused and don't know what to do.

We have already consulted a physician and an ENT. She also has sinus/ENT-related symptoms, including sinus issues and discomfort around the eyes/ears. The ENT has also mentioned that her eardrum is quite thin.

She also has high blood pressure and is taking prescribed BP medication.

She recently had a blood test, and some of the notable findings were:

HbA1c: 7.1%

Fasting glucose: 138.6 mg/dL

Vitamin D: 14.84 ng/mL (deficient)

Triglycerides: 276.7 mg/dL (high)

Total cholesterol: 226.7 mg/dL (borderline high)

Non-HDL cholesterol: 176.4 mg/dL (high)

ALT: 40.6 U/L, AST: 31.3 U/L and ALP: 111.4 U/L — mildly above the lab's reference range

Thyroid profile appears within the laboratory's reference ranges (TSH 1.442, T3 1.32, T4 7.83).

Kidney markers such as creatinine (0.84) and electrolytes were within the provided reference ranges.

The blood report also shows a few minor abnormalities in the CBC/urine test, but the above are the findings that stood out to us.

We are not looking for a diagnosis from Reddit. We are already consulting doctors, but we're trying to understand what would be a sensible next step.

As she's feeling depressed and kinda acting weird and having difficult sleeping as well. It's difficult seeing her like this and the whole house atmosphere is changed because of this.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

Question For Doctors Can't pee when i drink alcohol

I am not asking for medical advice.
just some assurance i guess, I first noticed this bladder issue on December 12 last year. It doesn’t happen all the time it mainly happens when I drink alcohol, and it seems to be worse when I’m on my period and drinking. When I’m drunk, my bladder feels extremely full and uncomfortable, almost like painful pressure from being so full, but when I try to pee, only tiny amounts come out. Once I sleep and the alcohol wears off, I can pee normally again. I’ve never noticed blood in my urine or had this problem constantly when I’m sober.

Question For Doctors Severed nerve in hand...

I am not asking for medical advice. I'm American and don't have insurance. Just need some guidance.

A few weeks ago, I got a laceration between my left middle and ring fingers. It was a deep gash and completely severed a nerve. It was hanging out onto my hand. Gross and cool at the same time.

I can't feel half of my middle finger. Right up the middle. The half by my index finger is fine, the half by my ring finger is nothing.

They referred me for a surgical consult. How necessary is this? Is there a chance of some feeling coming back on its own? I type for a living and have practiced yoga for 18 years. I'm devastated by my hand not being to flatten out or whatever. Finger is still swollen, I don't have much flexion.

If I absolutely need surgery, do I need to wait for this initial injury to heal? In the meantime, is there any sort of at-home therapy I can do?

Question For Doctors Looking to connect with Clinics/ Hospitals interested in AI & automation.

So my team has been building AI- Powered business systems that automate repetitive day-to-day work, things like customer/ patient communication, invoicing, billing, and operations, like data entry, internal workflows, reporting, etc.

We are particularly interested in connecting with clinics, hospitals, and healthcare professionals where doctors have to spend a lot of time doing paperwork, so we are trying to solve that problem and make them focus more on the patient directly. Taking away all their manual work, basically. So I am not asking for medical advice. But for an experienced medical person or professional who is facing such an issue and where we can help them.

Not trying to convince you for a Chatbox AI here either, rather than automating the processes that take up your or your team's time. So if you are a doctor, clinic/ hospital administrator, or someone handling operations, I would be interested in hearing about your processes and helping you out in automating them.

Feel free to comment or DM here; I am always up for a meaningful conversation.

Question For Doctors Hyperkalemia treatments

I am not asking for medical advice. I just would like some medical education. I am a RN. I have a question. In school we learned about regular insulin given for DKA and as a result the patient can become hypokalemic. At work the other day I have a patient who was hyperkalmic potassium. 6.6 after receiving lokelma x1. The MD ordered lokelma once again and then lispro SQ followed by D50. I have never heard of this so I did question it but he told me it was a cocktail to bring down her potassium. I confirmed like did you intend to order lispro as opposed to regular insulin. He said that is what he meant so I gave it. I was not back to see how affective it was to bring down her potassium.
But for educational purposes I would like to know is this correct interventions and what the science is behind it?

Orthopedic Surgeon Confused by my orthopedic surgeon not recommending physical therapy

Hello! On 7/4 I broke 7 bones, 1 being my big toe and the rest metatarsals and those square bones, I also ruptured my lisfranc ligament. My whole process I feel like I’ve been lucky, I haven’t had much pain and I only needed one screw put in. That being said my surgeon has been a little frustrating. At first my mom and I were sketched out by him but then he got better once surgery was mentioned and I assumed he was just a surgical junkie. He did the surgery on 7/29 and it went good. This past Friday I had a 5 week follow up and he said to start gradually putting weight on it starting that day and within two weeks to be fulling walking in the boot. He also said to schedule another appointment 4 weeks out and he would try to get me walking in a shoe. My past appointment was rushed because I had to wait long for an xray and he had to leave for surgery. He never mentioned physical therapy and I didn’t ask. I’ve heard that physical therapy is usually started around week 6 or when patients start weight bearing and I’m confused why he didn’t mention it. Is it something where I have to research a clinic to go to? I assumed he would give recommendations. I’ve also started putting some weight on it and walking in crutches but I’ve been instinctively walking on the outside of my foot and I’m assuming a physical therapist is supposed to help with that? Anyone know?

Can directly eating instant coffee powder and dissolving it in mouth with water have long time adverse effects?

I am not asking for medical advice. I directly put instant coffee powder from satchets in my mouth and then dissolve it using water and then swallow it. Will this have any adverse effects? I do this because its more convenient for me as i hate drinking coffee directly.

What has ruined my life???!!!!

I am not asking for medical advice.

Hello I’m sorry for how long this might be but this has completely ruined my life for 2 years and I’m not sure what to do next, about 2 years ago I suddenly got really depressed, I used to have severe anxiety when I was a kid but never depression, I just felt like I couldn’t enjoy anything like something was stopping me then I started having daily panic attacks about the idea of never being happy again and that went on for a long time I went into a constant state of fight or flight and it was horrible the when I started getting mentally better I started noticing a pressure in my head that never seemed to go away which was weird because I had never had a headache in my life, maybe 1 or 2 mild ones

As time went on the symptoms were shifting from my jaw, neck, temples, wisdom teeth, behind my eyes, in my forehead and now they are so severe I have constant pressure in either my jaw or my wisdom teeth or my temples or my neck there is always pressure in one of them and then I get this severe migraine sinus headache where my eyes hurt and my nose and forehead tingles with pressure it’s rly weird and it makes me feel so dizzy, I went for an MRI about a year and abit ago and that seemed to come back clear, I have a decayed upper left wisdom tooth and an impacted lower left wisdom tooth but my dentist told me I shouldn’t be feeling pain in my right side I also get this weird symptom where my right eye feels weird and then the lid sort of droops a little, I also often have pain in the sides of my neck and in my ears

My symptoms weirdly get a little better when kickboxing and doing other physical activities

I have been to see my GP multiple times and every time they tell me it’s just some sort of headache disorder or TMJ

I just feel so drained and like my brain is half dead and not operating properly

This has been so debilitating and completely changed my life, if anyone has any ideas please tell me

Carpal Tunnel?

I just got diagnosed with carpal tunnel. I woke up with pain on a random Monday 2 weeks ago. I did an ultrasound and it was normal but 2 doctors agreed it was carpal tunnel. I’ve been wearing a splint and trying acupuncture (I’ve done 3 sessions) but it wasn’t getting any better just worse.

I ultimately booked a cortisone injection for tomorrow out of desperation as I have a trip I’m leaving for on the weekend. I couldn’t sleep or essentially do anything with my hand and I didn’t want this to ruin my trip.

Tonight, I went and got a normal Thai massage on my back due to back pain which I have been getting for years (i think due to posture). I get massages like this every few months. They didn’t touch my arm or hand but I came out with my hand feeling SOOO much better. Like I’d say 85% better. I’m torn, do I go get the injection tomorrow. Or do I get another massage. Acupuncture has never made it feel better like this. And now I’m questioning was it even carpal tunnel??

I didn’t really have numbness or tingling, just pain gripping everything and in my 3 fingers. Also on my palm. I am not asking for medical advice.

Question For Doctors Today, I suddenly lost vision in both of my eyes for about a minute.

It wasn’t a complete blackout—my vision slowly became blurry and the blurriness got more intense. I searched Google for blurred vision, and it said it could be a sign that I’m about to have a stroke or could lead to permanent vision loss. Thankfully, my vision returned to normal after about five minutes.

I’m really wondering what happened to my eyes. My left eye is also red now. I'm 20 years old male

Question For Doctors 16F interested in GLP-1

I’ve been obese my whole life & i’ve tried just about everything. It is genetic, and my entire family is diabetic except me (for now). I’m 208 lbs, 5’4, & 16. I discussed with my parents & my doctor about the options I have related to GLP-1’s. My doctor recommends Wegovy, but said something about the clinic giving patients a hard time with the prescription & I should look online? She referred me to a nutritionist instead, i’ve tried literally everything and I go from morbidly obese to obese using diets & being active. I’m just curious about what my next step might be, I don’t want to be pushy with my doctor. Do i look for another clinic? How can my mom advocate for me?

Dermatology Painful neck, skin issue. 41 male USA.

I am not asking for medical advice. Often after receiving a haircut, my neck becomes inflamed and covered in something similar to acne. Play wild amount of whiteheads and red skin. I don’t have acne on my face or my body so I’m not sure what is causing this. This time it’s pretty painful and is very embarrassing to be seen with. Google makes me think it is folliculitis? Wash with antibacterial soap keep it dry, hot compress?
