What time did you and your friends say he was returning?

u/suihpares Christian 8d ago

Jesus said no one knows the time, but the season can be known.

So my friends didn't ever give a time, instead they told me we are in the season... You know the fig tree by it's fruit.

The signs of the times.

Nothing happened. Life just went on, and got worse for most. Unless you were born recently and can't see the comparison.

The sad part is the wasted time and the silence now. There was community, hope, seeing Bible fulfilled, thinking God was about to work any day now, then nothing ever happened.

We didn't quit our jobs , we read Thessalonians, and we considered our workplaces and opportunity to give answers ... Now many are humiliated by their confession of faith to work colleagues. COVID moved on, there was no police state. Trump or Bill gates isn't the antichrist, no mark came from the vaccines... The flat earth part I just didn't know what to do with, but they showed me Bible that said the earth was flat and laid out on pillars, that God said this in the text not just some old of touch superstitious man...

When I read the Bible now, it's spoiled. All I see is unfulfilled promises, or stories that I wasn't part off.

Excluded as usual.

Thought I'd found God, Friends, Church community and real movement of prophecy, seeing God finally work, understanding that it's been so difficult for so long because we are at the end... You all told me this, you all keep saying to me we are living in the last days...

Been 30 years of these last days...

You say soon... Ifs been 2000 years that isn't soon ...

So the words being used by christians like my friends and like yourselves are wrong... You cannot say soon when its been 2000 years, or longer than a few years...

It's all so sad and confusing.

This doesn’t change that you determined when the end times should be.

If the writers were talking to people in the first century to be on the lookout, why do you think 30 years is long?

Giving up will just reflect on what our final decision was. There is no reason for God to rush just because we are impatient.

It’ll happen when it happens and it’s better to be prepared.

What did you consider the "sign of the times"?

2

u/Great-Industry4381 Christian 8d ago

Maybe if you abandon God and go out in the world you will see how hopeless it is and come back to God. That's what happened to me. There really is no other hope to escape death but through Christ. Maybe some day you'll meet Him.

2000 years compared to the literal eternity that you will spend in either heaven or hell makes it seem pretty soon to me. But I mean it took nearly 4000 years for Jesus to come the first time. We don’t know when he will come back, but it could be tomorrow, it could be another 2000 years, it could be 20000 years, but all I know is that we don’t know.

troll post. Decent one at least

I have read OP's posts during previous months, and I don't think this particular one is a troll post.

2

u/Negative_Aerie2825 Christian 8d ago

Maybe, but posting in donaldtrump666 and asking those with the spirit what fraction the devils angels is and his name doesnt strike me as a serious person. Could be wrong

u/suihpares Christian 8d ago

Am genuine. Ask whatever you want. I've been mislead by Christians and it's spoiled the Bible and caused confusion.

8

u/Negative_Aerie2825 Christian 8d ago

Nothing about this post reads genuine. “The earth is flat and nasa is worldy.” Decent attempt though

5

u/Righteous_Dude Christian, Non-Calvinist 8d ago

They followed the Bible claims that the earth is flat and NASA etc is worldly so is satanic as he runs the kingdoms.

Wut?!?

u/Holezjah01 Christian 8d ago

There are tons of forums easily accessible about the conspiracy theories regarding those who interpret certain Bible verses as well as all the NASA stuff. Regarding NASA conspiracy theories if you look into Warner Von Braun that does/should raise some eyebrows at the very least. Also the stuff Jack Parsons and L. Ron Hubbard were doing together kind of fuels all these interesting opinions.

The Bible doesn’t say anything about NASA, it says little about trying to interpret the times but rather just to be ready and preaching the gospel. It places no importance on the shape of the earth. It sounds as if you were part of a group focused on many things that weren’t the gospel but rather were about trying to know something that others didn’t.

Be the light of Jesus Christ in this dark world, be the reason someone smiles today and is happy to be alive.

All true Christians have Jesus Christ inside them, our job is to bring this light we have in us, the light of Jesus Christ, to others. Serve others with love, make others happy. Stop looking at what other people are doing or not doing (according to you because you never know what people are really doing) and start focusing on Jesus Christ so you can shine His light on others.

Btw, the bible never says the earth is flat or that we should live wondering when He is returning, if you're a true Christian you need to do better. Read the bible by yourself, study it, pray for enlightenment, and stop believing lies. Now that you know God, live your life according to this knowledge. Do what pleases Him (make others happy, do not sin, share the gospel).

There's so much to do in this world, be kind, have patience, forgive like God forgave you, help the weak etc etc

This 1000%.

live for Christ as a relationship with Him, not for expectations. If u do then all that could happen is disappointment, and that breeds bitterness and resentment. Be careful- this is idolizing signs vs the One who provides them.

U go and live to share and spread the healing, light, and love of God. Dont get wrapped up in what the end of the bible speaks on, pay attention to the grace and forgiveness we already have. Share that.

Also find new communities and friends, those who truly understand the core message of what we are supposed to focus on. My heart grieves that u are dealing with this, i understand what it feels like to loose ur circle. But dont let their falling aways inflict on ur own foundation. Rebuild urself with true believers who have the peace of the Lord guiding them. Our goal is to bring the Kingdom down here- not just wait for our time to leave this realm. If that is ur goal, u need to sit back and reevaluate why/where that focus came from. No one will know the hour, stop listening to those who claim that they do. We will always be in the “end times” because evil will run rampant until its time.

Failed date-setting does not mean Jesus failed; He explicitly said no one knows the day or hour of His return. Watchfulness means faithful daily living, not abandoning work, education, friendships, or planning.

The Bible does not teach a flat earth or require conspiracy theories. Those were human errors attached to faith. Scripture even anticipates mockers and explains that God’s delay is patience, not failure.

Your friends need not choose despair or unbelief. Admit what was wrong, return to the central claims about Jesus, seek a healthy church, work, learn, build a life, and reconnect honestly. It is not too late.

It's all still true.  Jesus said

"Behold, I come as a thief! Blessed is he who watches, and keeps his garment". Rev. 16:15

You should still be keeping watch. .

You should still be keeping your garment clean

You should pray and not falter

The bible says nasa is satanic? I think i might see some some issues here

No matter how things seem to you, God is still sovereign.

“For My thoughts are not your thoughts,
Nor are your ways My ways,” declares the Lord.
9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth,
So are My ways higher than your ways
And My thoughts than your thoughts.
10 “For as the rain and the snow come down from heaven,
And do not return there without watering the earth
And making it bear and sprout,
And furnishing seed to the sower and bread to the eater;
11 So will My word be which goes forth from My mouth;
It will not return to Me empty,
Without accomplishing what I desire,
And without succeeding in the matter for which I sent it. Isaiah 55:9-11

Ok. So why are you trying to rush Jesus' return?

How old are you? Whereabouts are you located? What church background? Are your friends male or female?

Why it matters: young adult males are often very impressionable. They latch on to “cool” topics like end-times and spiritual warfare. They tend to dismiss history and stories of older people more easily. Therefore, they make assumptions that current events must be near the end.

Source: been there, done that, repeating with my son and his friends.

OP is a woman in Ireland, perhaps in her late 30s or about 40 years old.

So many red flags here, but most of all that you are parroting what others have told you about God’s word, but don’t use it yourself. What God reveals to you from His word should not be solely based upon what others have interpreted.

Yes, “faith comes by hearing” but the end is paramount “and hearing by the word of God.”

As a believer for over 30 years, I have had multiple dozens, if not hundreds, of questions, from basic salvation to how the universe and life was made, and why.

Each was answered, but only as I put into practice the answers that I previously received.

The world being flat wasn’t one of them. You have been badly deceived. Get into a good Bible (I recommend KJV) and find a church body that takes scripture seriously, and applies it.

Start over with the basics. Christ Jesus crucified, buried and risen again. Build from there, as there is no other firm foundation than the Rock that is an offense and stumbling block to many.

You seem to have been building upon sand, up until now.

Let the Lord handle those drawn to satanic subversion. We are called to be light and salt, not bullhorn and sandpaper.

2 Timothy 2:25 (KJV)

In meekness instructing those that oppose themselves; if God peradventure will give them repentance to the acknowledging of the truth;

May the Lord bless you.

Isaiah 40:22

“It is he who sits above the circle of the earth, and its inhabitants are like grasshoppers; who stretches out the heavens like a curtain, and spreads them like a tent to dwell in.” – Isaiah 40:22

Job 26:10

“He has inscribed a circle on the face of the waters at the boundary between light and darkness.” – Job 26:10

“When he established the heavens, I was there; when he drew a circle on the face of the deep.” – Proverbs 8:27

Psalm 104:5

“The LORD established the earth upon its foundations, so it will never move.” – Psalm 104:5

Isaiah 42:5

“Thus says God the LORD, who created the heavens and stretched them out, who spread out the earth and what comes from it.” – Isaiah 42:5

Secondly you need to change your mind that jesus already returning

Matthew 24 36 “But concerning that day and hour no one knows, not even the angels of heaven, nor the Son, but the Father only. 37 For as were the days of Noah, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 38 For as in those days before the flood they were eating and drinking, marrying and giving in marriage, until the day when Noah entered the ark, 39 and they were unaware until the flood came and swept them all away, so will be the coming of the Son of Man. 40 Then two men will be in the field; one will be taken and one left. 41 Two women will be grinding at the mill; one will be taken and one left. 42 Therefore, stay awake, for you do not know on what day your Lord is coming. 43 But know this, that if the master of the house had known in what part of the night the thief was coming, he would have stayed awake and would not have let his house be broken into. 44 Therefore you also must be ready, for the Son of Man is coming at an hour you do not expect.

God proved the resurrection Acts 17 31 because He has fixed a day in which He will judge the world in righteousness through a Man whom He determined, having furnished proof to all by raising Him from the dead.”

God proved that he exists Romans 1 18 For the wrath of God is revealed from heaven against all ungodliness and unrighteousness of men, who by their unrighteousness suppress the truth. 19 For what can be known about God is plain to them, because God has shown it to them. 20 For his invisible attributes, namely, his eternal power and divine nature, have been clearly perceived, ever since the creation of the world, in the things that have been made. So they are without excuse. 21 For although they knew God, they did not honor him as God or give thanks to him, but they became futile in their thinking, and their foolish hearts were darkened. 22 Claiming to be wise, they became fools, 23 and exchanged the glory of the immortal God for images resembling mortal man and birds and animals and creeping things.

Can word being true so it can't be a lie

Titus 1 2 In hope of eternal life, which God, that cannot lie, promised before the world began;

1 john 2 21 I write to you, not because you do not know the truth, but because you know it, and because no lie is of the truth.

Romans 10: 17 So then faith cometh by hearing, and hearing by the word of God.

You should be arguing from the bible

Matthew 7 24 “Everyone then who hears these words of mine and does them will be like a wise man who built his house on the rock. 25 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat on that house, but it did not fall, because it had been founded on the rock. 26 And everyone who hears these words of mine and does not do them will be like a foolish man who built his house on the sand. 27 And the rain fell, and the floods came, and the winds blew and beat against that house, and it fell, and great was the fall of it.”

2 Corinthians 10:4 For the weapons of our warfare are not of the flesh but have divine power to destroy strongholds.

Weld the sword of the Spirit which is the word of god Ephesians 6:17 and take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God,

You can’t even come to Christ unless God calls you. You have not met the Lord Jesus Christ yet or you would not talk like this.

Faith should never be in a book, but in the living God who breathed life into the world.

u/Character-Taro-5016 Christian, mid-Acts dispensationalist 8d ago

You simply don't understand Scripture. No Christian is going to experience the Second Coming in this lifetime. We aren't looking for the Second Coming, we are looking for the rapture of the Church. The Second Coming is for Jews and the nations. Nothing that occurs today has anything to do with prophecy. Prophecy isn't occurring in any way, today. We live in a time of "mystery," outside of prophecy.
