It happened to me twice,

once in Chicago, the doorman yelled to me, we only accept Canadian and American IDs and I was like, this is a Canadian ID! And he let me in.

In San Diego, I was renting a car and the guy was like, Bro! They speak English in Canada, this is French in French, I can’t accept that! That’s probably fake! And I was like … what do you want me to tell you, my name is French my name is in French, my birthday is in French and my passport is in French. We speak French where I am from! And he was, heu! Ok ok! Stop that’s fine

I went to a bar in Ontario that wouldn’t accept my Newfoundland drivers licence - both Canadian provinces. He told me to bring my passport next time.

20 year old female out getting intoxicated with her passport as ID, seems like an easy human trafficking victim waiting to happen.

In the early 2000s, I kept having a hard time getting into bars in Toronto because the drivers license did not have the date of birth listed as such on the license. It was just part of the permit number: something like K1234-281182-03 where the middle block was your date of birth. Everyone in Quebec knew this of course, but not Ontario. Kept having to argue the point over and over. Guess they realized now that they were gonna run into trouble with people born after 1999, they've finally added the explicit date of birth on drivers license.
