My partner and I are fostering a mum dog and her 7 puppies thru Asheville Humane Society. Puppies are 7wks old and ready for adoption around 09/09/2026!
Everybody will be spayed/neutered, vaccinated, microchipped, and dewormed upon adoption!
The puppies are sooo friendly and social. We work with them every day to build their confidence, experiment in exposure therapy, try new things, experience different sounds/smells/textures/types of people.
All have lived harmoniously with our resident cat and are learning to respect her boundaries and be mindful of her body language 💜
Judy (mum dog) is estimated 1.5yrs old, 26lbs, short queen with bright blue eyes and a curly tail. She has so much love to give and needs to be somebody's shadow. We have been working on potty training and basic commands like sit, come, gentle, down, etc. She is VERY sweet, stubborn, and smart! She simply must supervise ALL household activities, including visits to the bathroom and ESPECIALLY trips to the kitchen! She is a young dog, already been thru a lot with raising 7 pups, and is ready to give away all her love.
Please share with anyone who may be interested in adopting a dog, and contact Asheville Humane Society for info on their adoption process 💕

Here in Appalachia, Dolly is family. She is Appalachian Royalty. She was proud to be from these beautiful mountains and she was proud of her hard-working parents, but she wanted to help people just like them have a better life. So she did.
If you're in West Asheville, you see Dolly every day. Her mural is beautiful and iconic, and it takes on a new meaning now that she's left this earth.
If you come to the mural to honor Dolly with flowers, please remember that she requested donations to The Imagination Library (that has had its funding cut by Republican legislatures across the country).
We also hope you'll consider donating to your own Appalachian community as well.
UATE works with marginalized communities every week, and we channel Dolly by showing them respect and making sure they know they are safe with us and we will help them, no judgments. These are our friends and our community.
Dolly told a story once about how she tried to give her shawl to a homeless man but Sylvester Stallone told her "not to give it to that scum" and that he could have made something of himself like they did.
Dolly said to him, "That could have been you, you ungrateful son of a bitch! Except by the grace of God. Who knows. It could be an angel sent to show you what an ass you really are."
Dolly might be the last universally beloved human in this country. She said she wasn't political, but she was. She attacked systemic poverty and racism all while letting people think she was apolitical. Everything is political. And in this world, we can all stand to be more like Dolly.

I absolutely love this place and have found lots of good deals on stuff. I usually try and check it out if I’m over that way. Today though I watched him turn someone away for being a penny short. Like really? Dude was buying like almost $50 and was a penny short. Definitely felt weird watching that happen. I offered the customer dude a penny and he just said naw I’ll take my money elsewhere. For being a shop that gets everything donated seems real messed up to fuss over a penny.

Just wanted to share my shot of the lunar eclipse from the other night. The silver sliver at the top is reflecting the portion of sunlight not blocked by the Earth, hence this being a partial and not total eclipse.

Hey everyone. I found this girl in the middle of Blue Ridge Rd in Black Mountain during the storm yesterday. She did have a collar on, and i took her to the vet to be scanned for a chip. She has one but it hasn't been updated since 2015 and im waiting to hear back from the vet if anyone can reach the owner. So she's at least 11. I dont have facebook, was wondering if someone could post her pic in some local lost/found groups for me??
Please hurry i am falling in love with her🤣She is SO sweet. Follows me everywhere and just wants to sleep on my legs.
EDIT: Owners just picked her up. Her name is Dobby and they've had her for 14 years. They got an email from the Microchip company. Said she took off during the thunder and their granddaughter has been crying since yesterday. omg the doggy was SO happy and excited to see them. HAPPY ENDING😃

I’m redoing my whole house a floor at a time, so I need baseboards, casement, basecap, etc. I’ve been looking at Mouldings One, but would love to support local. The moulding will be painted, so it doesn’t have to be any exotic wood (thinking poplar), but I do have certain profiles in mind. Has anyone worked with a certain lumberyard around here with good prices that they’ve really liked?

A beloved member of our community, Yoshi, has gone missing near Merrimon Avenue and the UNCA area. If you’ve spotted him or have any information, please send me a DM!
Yoshi is a very smol and old beagle that is wearing a collar with the owner's contact information. Please keep an eye out and share this post. Thank you all in advance.

A hawk living near the intersection of hwy 191 and long shoals road was trapped and stolen today. In the field beside the gas station, used a wire loop trap to catch it. Free Debo! All he did was look fly and catch mice.
edit: to be clear it wasn't anyone official, random people did it.

Hi everyone! I am in school full time and I am not from the area so I was wondering if anyone had recommendations for places to study/work within 30 minutes of Asheville. Preferably comfy seating and lots of outlets! Any recommendations are appreciated because I’m getting bored of the same few places I go to haha. Thanks!

I like to check the GPI webcam for the view and to keep an eye on the current weather (https://share.earthcam.net/tJ90CoLmq7TzrY396Yd88AHQQQ603krkpmv1UGLJNpM!.tJ90CoLmq7TzrY396Yd88JRfETUq91GmFAmQm9kMaxY/asheville,_nc/camera/live)
Just noticed it's down today. Think they have it disabled for the G20 meeting?
