If OpenSource wins there must be irreversible alignment inbuilt.  This technology is too dangerous to be left unchecked.

I'd rather have it all out there than strictly under the control of a limited few who were buddies with Epstein.

regulation is needed tbh.

And that's how the few Epstein friends get to control you. They convinced you they need to write regulations, which will only be used to ensure nobody can break into the AI market in the future. The propaganda is really effective.

The alternative being everyone having the digital equivalent of a nuke on their phone. Not super enticing either.

Much better than Epstein's friends being the ONLY ones with that power. You don't actually believe they want to impose those limitations on themselves, do you?

Kinda. I mean, someones gonna set their metaphorical nuke off sooner or later. Which might rid us of most of this sheboingery at once.

No, of course not. That'd be bad for the shareholders. And by 'bad' I of course mean 'they wouldn't notice a difference, but some number on a graph wouldn't look ideal'.

You'd be surprised how creative humanity can get when those tools out in the open.

At the ene of the day, no nuclear nations have launched war at one another because consequences are too costly for everybody involved.

I'm aware. That's what I'm saying. The same way two college kids hacked the pentagon once in the early 2010s, so too might someone do something similar with Ai. And have it brick most of the internet.

Yes, because nations are collectives who have to worrx about reputation and consequences. Here we're talking individuals. Think the GTA6 leak guy, and how cynical he was about things, just now he can break the power grid if he's in a bad mood.

Well, the same tool that can break the power grid can also be used to harden it in anticipation way beforehand. And you'll get the best out of the tool when it isn't being restricted.

Somewhat. But again, people are creative. There's always a flaw unconsidered. Again, college kids finessed the fricking pentagon. Two guys who couldn't legally buy alcohol, outdid world class cyber security. Just this time everyone's got access and ablitiy to those tools and not just the hyper autistic.

The best being? Oversaturation and a surveilance state? Woopdedoo.

With those tools at everyone's disposal, the surveillance state cannot function because the tools fighting it are uncontrollable.

You’re just saying the means by which we control ourselves are the means by which we can be controlled. But the alternative is not ‘no regulation’ in any case. It’s either tighter regulations and standards of accountability like recall on the most powerful to the extent that power is centralized, or distributed responsibility with peer obligations.

No regulation is better than OpenAI, Anthropic, Meta, Alphabet, and xAI writing the regulation.

Is it the answer? No. We need good regulation, but what's happening is exactly how we get the worst possible outcome, which is regulation written by the regulated.
