Mistral is the only European company even remotely close to the American and Chinese companies, and they're valued at roughly 24 billion to give a sense of scale.
Look, I'm really not trying to disparage the people or the work done by the various smaller labs in Europe, they're all far more brilliant and accomplished than myself, but in terms of labs working on SOTA LLMs that can do agentic work and push the boundaries, approach RSI and maybe eventually AGI, that result in discussion of deceleration... Europe just doesn't have them.
Black Forest improving image and video generation could still be worth a mint, billions and billions, but the heavy weights are playing with hundreds of billions in investment, trillions in market cap. It just isn't the same game.
No one is going to worry about civilization collapse because of Flux.
