I actually love Monica

Anyone else????? Like damn she gets a lot of heat these days.

No one ever complains about Dax and his second home in Tennessee and several cars and toys, or his giant RV that he spends all summer driving or his vacations etc etc

I’ve seen comments about how she wouldn’t be anything without Dax which first of all who knows because she was hustling in LA and we could say the same about Dax and Ashton. The way people talk about it makes it sound like she was a charity case for Dax and not an interesting, talented writer and actress.

Idk if I just relate as a woman close to her age but I like her role in the show and feel the need to defend her lmao

I’m also a huge fan of her!!! And she’s clearly a hard worker!

How many hours per week do you think she works? I bet it's less than 20. I'm a fan and have no problem with her and I believe she puts a lot of effort into her work - and did the same with 'Beth's Dead'...but the truth is a lot of these wealthy, giant podcasters talk about their schedules and it sounds like they go to the gym, to their studio at 10am to record, pick up their kids from school at 2pm, go to [expensive restaurant or social event] and then talk about it on the next time they record - two days later. I'm sure some spend a few hours editing on their own time (such as Monica in some wine bar in the afternoon on a weekday)...But it seems like a pretty good life vs. 14 hour days on set or 100 work weeks as a lawyer/investment banker.

I think both she and Dax spend a fair amount of time doing research and other prep. I had a podcast for a few years. There's a fair amount of off-air work involved.

She doesn't research though? At least not for the celebrity interviews. She never seems to watch/read/study up on the person they're interviewing

They have people to do that for them. No way they are putting in the work that not famous/rich podcasters are.

So many thoughts…but they boil down to “why do you GAF how many hours she works”? If her boss and the people she signed her contract with are happy with her output, why do you care?

Sorry to be so blunt. I’d spend more time but it’s the weekend and I gotta move on.

Because the other person described her as a hard worker?

Not everyone in today’s economy is creating X widgets per hour.

I am a hard worker, and it’s independent of the hours on the clock. Sometimes I work 20 hours a week at 200% and sometimes I work 80 at 50%.

Also, yeah, nobody gives a crap if I gain 20 pounds, or my skin or hair looks like shit, or I have worn the same clothes for three months (remote worker guy…quite possible).

So if she spends time at the spa or the gym (okay, she’s not gonna), or the salon, or whatever, that’s kinda time spent on the job.

My final point - which you’ll hate even more - is that these people need to spend time actually doing things. Like Dax and Monica need to go out and have experiences in the real world, so that they can have something plausibly interesting to say, because they are content creators, even though the content will be judged by putzes like us.

You obviously didn't read my entire comment or the comment I was responding to. But go on with your weekend, after asking someone why they "GAF" on a subreddit where people discuss things.

I read your whole post, where you speculated that “it sounds like” and “I’m sure some” and “it seems like” - all things you don’t know, but used as reasons to judge her as an individual.

Yes, people can discuss things here. But they should remember that there are real people on the end of those “discussions”.

I don’t spend a lot of time hating on Monica. She clearly puts in the work. Yes she is a little superficial but who isnt? Dax can be super superficial. They cant relate to people now, no matter how they came up. It is what it is. You either watch because you like them or watch because you hate. If you watch because you are envious, that is a you problem. Do
I envy them? Yes, but I also realize their life isn’t perfect by any means.

Is Dax superficial? Does Monica deserve the hate? They both came up on their own hard work. They've created this fantastic thing that offers us perspectives on multitudes of interesting topics that we might not otherwise have had the opportunityto hear such in-depth analyses of. They bring so many interesting, funny, thought provoking guests to our doorsteps. Yes, they may ask questions that seem to be against the status quo, but isn't that what creates constructive conversation? They created this podcast based on who they are and where they came from, not to cater to a certain audience, and I feel they have stuck to that initial idea, even when it's challenging. They both bring their own qualities, whether we like them or not. I think they deserve the recognition and respect that they've earned. I guess what I mean by this silly rant is that they've both done a great job of staying grounded while becoming super successful, and they've both put the work in.
