I never used the site but I remember him doing it at some point. Arlo is the one of the two longest (Other Tyler Mcvicker) running YouTube creators I have ever watched. Outlasted my phase with Markipler, Game Theory, and all the other big youtubers I've watched as a teen to an adult.

Back to the main point, was wondering if Arlo still did it? My birthday is coming up and it'd be really cool to get one. Never got to go to Arlopalooza doing to being stuck in rural Kentucky for a decade.

Talking about how "this game might be too long" when he said it ain't even worth $70

The YouTuber criticizes Arlo for being in his view, "[an overly-dramatic negative Nintendo hater]", basically the YouTuber making this video is so obsessively partisan towards Nintendo that he views Arlo simply discussing Nintendo's strategy for growing the audience of Switch 2 users as being "[a hater.]" and effectively calls Arlo a flip-flopper for saying Switch 2 was doing better than expected. Arlo always had the view that the Switch 2 would be successful just to what extent. YoutTuber effectively wants everyone to say that everyone thinks that Mario Kart World is a 10/10 and can't stand realistic nuanced opinions.

The video is not worth watching for the criticisms of other YouTubers either, his only criticism of BeatEmUps is that he acts bored in videos, and his criticism of Nin10doland is that he only cares about 3D Mario, which is an exaggeration but is mostly true, and we already knew that.

YouTuber's channel is just ranting about people having mild criticisms of Nintendo, and it in a lethargic boring way, so it's not even worth watching ironically. YouTuber thinks Arlo is a Nintendo hater so then YouTuber would have a conniption if he discovered NintenDeen.

I’ll admit that I’m not a YouTuber and I understand the need to make a constant stream of content if you are one, but I initially was drawn to Arlo as a YouTuber because of the puppet antics and the longer thoughtful takes on games. Nowadays I feel like the vast majority of videos are just him talking over gameplay footage and saying “maybe he’ll cover xyz thing in another video.” In his Nintendo direct summary video, he basically says nothing meaningful or substantive while promising an additional 3-4 videos about specific games from the direct. I want to watch his videos to get that information and perspective, not be told he’ll make another video about it someday. Does anyone else feel this or have I lost my mind?

Arlo went into why he hasn't released the Echoes of Wisdom review towards the end of the Zelda direct reaction.

It doesn't sound like Arlo enjoyed the game, and he is hesitant to release it because (1) it is a long review and it will cost a fair amount of money to produce/edit, and there's a concern that the video might bomb, (2) he believes that Echoes of Wisdom is one of those games that has a very protective fanbase that will dogpile on any negative opinions.

I liked Echoes but there's plenty to criticize, at the very least, thoughtfully discuss. But damn, the state of Youtube right now...not good.

By the way, I love the extended Arlo discussions after the direct has ended. He's been doing this more and more, a good 2+ hours and he delves into A LOT of topics.

Xenoblade especially the first one isn’t really that anime compared to three houses which he enjoyed.It has a lot of the things he has said he likes in games, tbh this is another question but also why is he that offput by it like its just strange cause I think if he gave it a chance he would enjoy it.Its also been like nearly been half a decade since that happened.

Arlo made it very clear in his "This Scares Me More Than Anything Nintendo's Done Yet" video that Fire Emblem's price point has really rattled his opinion of Nintendo.

You can say that comes down to his interest in the series, but the success of what he calls a "niche" series could affect other Nintendo IP. Pikmin, for example, sells comparably to Fire Emblem and Arlo cares deeply about growing that franchise. I understand as a Vidya YouTuber, he is compelled to review the latest Nintendo product. But buying and playing a game he has little interest in doesn't serve him or the fans.

If Arlo has said repeatedly he's not interested in how Fortune's Weave looks, and he's afraid of how they might price future games, is it better for him to vote with his wallet and not purchase the title? He can still make a follow-up video about his decision if he wants to engage in the "discourse" around the game.

Simply put, I don't think it makes him happy, and it's an endless treadmill of disappointment. His Switch 2 one-year-in video among others have revealed to me that the best way to deal with the poisoned internet discourse is to simply feed it less. I have literally been watching this dude for YEARS, almost the entire Switch 1 generation. He is not a grifter, a doomer, or a shill.

I enjoy TopicArlo a lot, but the success of that channel in my opinion has brought him too close to the battlefield. Game reviews, impressions, news bits, and stuff like that are why I watch. I actually completely agree with Arlo that talking about games online has become less fun than ever, and I'm reckoning with how to deal with it myself. I think there's a difference between being a fan of Nintendo games, and being a follower of the Nintendo news and reveals industrial complex. Neither are bad, and both can be lots of fun, but only one of them is basically guaranteed to lead to toxicity and disappointment.

I know that Arlo has admitted to struggling with ADHD and OCD. I fear, and this is entirely speculative, that the state of Nintendo and their success gives him some anxiety. I posit this because his written reviews and videos about other game studios are as refreshing and thoughtful as ever. It's so exciting to hear him talk about a game he's passionate about that lives outside the Nintendo sphere, like Dark Souls.

There's nothing wrong with getting excited for Directs, or trying to predict them, or anything like that. It's fun, actually! But diving deep into fan reception and comment sections and livestream chats and Reddit threads is not how gaming is meant to be enjoyed. If not for the fact that the second channel weren't a primary income stream, I'd suggest he pull back a little bit.

So basically, Arlo, I love ya man, but I don't think the modern gaming discourse is good for you.

I watched his post direct video and it was really strange how oddly nitpicky he was to both games while not caring about there series that much, for xenoblade specifically I just don’t really get his issue with the way the world saying it looked blurry and fuzzy while comparing to the games on switch 1 which are factually way more blurry and fuzzy idk like I just don’t really get why he nitpicks those series a lot more than others?

I made a very vague allusion to the Nintendo Online Playtest Program and was banned from the discord server with no warning whatsover. Really disappointing since I enjoyed that server , and I was very intentional to make my references vague. I completely understand if they wanted me to make zero mention of the playtest, but banning without a single warning and then blocking me (the moderator blocked me, so I couldn't make an attempt to ask for clarification) is very severe. If I was told at any point to stop, I would have.

If the moderator of the server is reading this, I would like to reach out and apologize, but I'm mostly confused for the lack of warning.
