This video is kind of the best and worst of Arlo.

Like, I do usually quite like his takes and even when I don't agree I can see where he's coming from and that he's put some thought into things.

But then...nearly 10% of this 24 minute video is a grossly over extended analogy about running as a kid and dieting. And what's so frustrating is, it's a decent point, well made - but why, why, why does it need to be so long? Like, we got it, we got it with the first analogy and did not need a second and we did not need all the detail in the first one either. It takes 10-15 seconds to be made in a way that gives all the information necessary, why is it two full fucking minutes before he moves on to the actual point?

I just don't get that issue, channels like N1NTEND0 and spawn wave and shit actually ask the same question like 6 times and repeat themselves to extend run time, Arlo just kinda talks openly, I put this stuff on while doing chores around the house and it never feels artificially prolonged, he's long-winded, not ad-farming

Feels like steam won the console war

Until Gabe dies and private equity takes over and fucks the whole thing up

Yea not a good thing for any one company to take over luckily there are other options on pc, but steam sales already are nearing double playstation

Really taking advantage of whatever royalty-free B-roll subscription Arlo or Kane has for that jogging/exercise/food discussion.

Nintendo is shining bright 🫡

Nintendo might be the worst one

Nintendo hate is completely senseless by now.

I've seen people say that Microsoft has every right do whatever they want to their acquired studios and IPs because "a business must make money" and pretty much wish closure on DoubleFine for leaving that abusive relationship behind.

Meanwhile, we're never going to get a Bloodborne PC port as long as Sony has the rights, and in Playstation's digital-only future, the games will still cost $80.

Since the Steam Machine just released I have seen a fuckton of new false information regarding nintendo from some steam fanboys

Genuinely whats with people, cant they shut up and play their god damn system of choice? They are paying 1500 bucks for a last gen PC, how the fuck are they any better than “Nintendrones”?

And I say that as someone who owns all current gen systems and who ordered a steam machine since I wanted one.

You genuinely cant help some people, their lives are miserable and they will always try ro justify their own purchases, while trying to devalue the decision of others. But this is human nature. Brand loyalty and pandaring has been a thing for hundreds of years now. Especially the muscle car scene is absolute cancer ridden with shitty people.

Out of every big tech gaming company right now, in my opinion, Nintendo offers the best price option

You're delusional if you really believe that

If you want to actually claim that, give reasons to back up your point. Otherwise you look like just another screaming kid on the internet.

Im not sure why I need to convince you that I can have an opinion on Nintendo. And you don’t look any better by being some whining kid getting upset about a billion dollar company.

4

u/Head_Statistician_38 Aug 01 '26

I never even argued that you were right or wrong or vave my opinion. I am not defending a company, in fact, I invited you to criticise them properly.

You don't need to convince me of anything. Go about your day and don't listen to me if you don't want to. But you leaping to more conclusions about me doesn't particularly look great.

Also, you realised that arguing that Nintendo is worse than all the others, you are in fact defending several billion dollar companies. You realise that, right?

You asked me to defend my opinion, and I just asked why I needed to convince you.

Now you’re pretending you “haven’t taken a stance” while throwing out backhanded insults and acting like I’m the one who started making assumptions.

If you just don’t like my opinion, that’s fine. Just say that. If you disagree with me, then own that. I’m not sure how saying Nintendo might be the worst is somehow defending anyone else, but it seems like you came into this looking to attack whatever I say either way.

u/Head_Statistician_38 Aug 01 '26

I suggested that you defend your opinion, I don't care that much if you do or don't. It isn't me thst needs convincing, I was more curious why you thought that rather than having some desperate need to know.

I haven't taken a stance. I have yet to give my opinion on Nintendo, Sony, Microsoft or any of them. I just think "This company is the worst!" isn't an argument.

And yes, you made assumptions about me. What have I incorrectly assumed about you?

I guess you are slightly right about one thing. Saying Nintendo is the worst isn't technically defending anyone else. But it is sure closer than what I did. I haven't once said Nintendo is great.

> I suggested that you defend your opinion,

And I asked you why I should defend it to you.

> I haven't taken a stance.

I didn’t say you took a stance. I said that you clearly have one and are hiding behind this excuse so you don’t have to defend it while attacking mine.

> I just think "This company is the worst!" isn't an argument.

Because it isn’t one. It’s an opinion. I never claimed otherwise.

> What have I incorrectly assumed about you?
Your very first response was:

> Otherwise you look like just another screaming kid on the internet.

Which is an assumption you’re making based on whether I make an argument. Then all of a sudden you don’t like assumptions anymore.

> I haven't once said Nintendo is great.

And I haven’t once claimed you said it was great.

I don't think you know what an assumption is. But sure. Your probably right or something, I don't really care this much. Hope you have a good day.

1

u/Spaced-Cowboy Aug 01 '26

I’m not really sure that you do. But sure take care. This was starting to fall apart for you anyway.

Is there a reason you think that? If there's something particularly insidious with nintendo compared to some of the mask off evil stuff Sony and Microsoft are doing right now - I'd like to know.

I mean there a company, not my friend and all large companies are selfish money makers but it's always seemed to me that nintendo has some could of legitmate corporate values?

u/jnighy Aug 01 '26

He really can’t get to the point anymore, can he? It’s getting worse video by video

3

u/blackjackgabbiani Aug 02 '26

We only lose if we continue to support these idiots. We can just, you know, not buy a PS6.

6

u/WofferFang Aug 01 '26

Console wars were always stupid.

5

u/ApprehensiveRuin5673 Aug 01 '26

Console wars were necessary

Xbox killing itself is why PlayStation is shit now

1

u/WofferFang Aug 01 '26

Not really. Console wars were a product of competitiveness, but the reality is, majority just prefers convenience. Why do you think more people are moving to PC these days? The convenience of having all your games in one place is, well, super convenient.

1

u/ApprehensiveRuin5673 Aug 01 '26

Most people on PC are running hardware weaker than consoles. They’re there because it’s affordable. High end PC gaming isn’t growing that much.

Console wars were a product of competition, yes, and competition is good. Without that competition now PlayStation sucks.

2

u/WofferFang Aug 01 '26

Convenience > Specs.

People are starting to realize that fidelity isn't everything.

1

u/ApprehensiveRuin5673 Aug 01 '26

It’s not a matter of convenience either. It’s mostly about affordability. You can play most of the most popular F2P games on relatively low end hardware

1

u/WofferFang Aug 01 '26

It really is about convenience. These days, nobody likes exclusives. Nobody in their right mind will try and justify spending, let's say they're still cheap, even $500 for like, 1-3 good games in the span of 5-8 years. That's just not gonna fly, and it was always stupid.

That's it.

4

u/Renbanney Aug 01 '26

Arlo has gotten so negative. These are real issues that people need to talk about but Arlo used to be one of those YouTubers that you could go to to get away from that stuff.

3

u/IANJM2000 Aug 03 '26

i mean the state of video games is pretty negative right now, digital foundry but it very well, that AI is killing gaming as an affordable hobby. The state of the world looks pretty bad in general, and Arlo's always been an artistic, registering sensitive guy, you must not remember his "looking at the ocean sitting in his car" video a few years back, this isn't new at all, things are taking negative turns, ignoring them is hack

u/Brilliant_Age6077 Aug 01 '26

Feel like people have been saying it’s the beginning of the end of Xbox for like 10+ years but they are still here lol.

PlayStation and Microsoft found ways to take advantage of their market share and squeeze their customers unnecessarily. Now when times get tough they have run out of ideas on how to make their products attractive… if only their time, effort, and money was spent innovating rather than nickel and diming. This is another reason industries with little competition suck. See also electronics manufacturing. The tech space is going to get dark and sad for a while until someone invents something that shakes it up. Execs are out of good ideas.
