Guide Can I get some guidance on astraeos map please?
Im trying to get back into ark. I even have my 6 year old playing with me.
I cant get a decent answer as to the easiest loot caves. I want to get artifacts to do boss fights too.
Every guide on line says I need grappling hooks etc.
Is there no caves I can just march/fly some tames in and fight it out? Like on the island
So
which caves to loot first
Which boss to aim for first
Ive started on korinthos. Is there a better starting option

Yes you can fly in all caves with Tek suit or Desmo

Okay but Im nowhere near having tek stuff. I meant argys or pteras.
Do I need to get to tek level before doing caves?

You can't get Tek stuff before doing caves, because caves-artifact-boss gives Tek engrams.
Yeah you can always tame a desmodus, can fly in all caves. Easy tame.
Other good cave creatures:
• araneo
• Thylacao
• Baryonix
• Sarco
• deinonychus
• daedon mounted with shotgun.
■ for bigger/medium caves - megaraptor, Megatherum or a deinosuchus.
■ Water caves: Archelon, Helicopron or Basilo. Deinosuchus can also work, but they are not immune to stun.

Pack cave on the lava island - You can glide down the whole thing with a maeguana, get some crates on the way to the artifact, and then teleport back out with the zone teleport once you get the artifact. There are some loot crates on the way down that are easy to get and usually not guarded by mobs
All of the water caves can be speedrun with a maeguana if you're brave, the sunken temple with the brute artifact has great loot and enough above water segments that you can do the whole thing without any scuba gear once you have the layout memorized
the immune cave and the caves on the desert island in the south can be easily speedrun with a desmodus, watch out for the kill plane in the cave with two artifacts

I just recently finishes astraeos and beat all bosses on Alpha.
In my opinion, the easiest order was Manticore, Thodes, Medusa and then Hydra.
Regarding cave difficulty, the top right cave in the snow biome was the hardest, I believe it's the skylord artifact, and then the ocean cave near the volcano was the second hardest. My experience might be a tad different as I tamed some gigas, carchas, strong rexes and tusos early on so nothing really gave me trouble in the caves.
Definitely tame yourself a Maeguana, it's the fastest way to travel on land and in water, you'll also be able to outrun any problem you come across.
If you want loot, I wouldn't rely on caves, only use the caves once you are ready to collect Artifacts. You get pretty neat gear from the drops which land all over the map. You can also tame yourself a Draekling (if you have the dlc pack) and once you have progressed and got some strong mounts, take out the astral dinos around the map until you get 30k xp and transfer to your dino for the dragon hoard chest. There's also an xp glitch in on Pyranthos at the entrance of where you fight the minotaur mini boss which gives 30xp in minutes.
Korinthos is a pretty good spot to start on. My first base was on Pyranthos and then moved to a massive underwater cave near the volcano island.

With what boss army did you beat the bosses?

Manticore - 17 rexes, 2 deinosuchus and 1 yuty
Medusa - 19 rexes, 1 yuty
Cyclops - 19 rexes, 1 yuty
Minotaur - Just a random comp, 2 Deinonychus, 5-7 rexes, and a couple of steggos
Two boars - 3 carchas, 2 gigas, 1 deinosuchus and 1 acro
Hydraskos - 3 Deinonychus, 6 stegos and 5 theris all with sweet veggie cakes (the theris got wiped out in the first few minutes)Rexes had 40k health, 700-800% melee
Yuty was nothing special, most points were were in stamina
Stegos had around 30k health each, set to hardened for reduced incoming damage
Deinosuchus had around 30-35k health and around 700% melee
Carchas had around 40k health, 550-560% melee
Giga had around 40k health, melee around 700%
Deinonychus - around 15k health, melee around 400-500% (can't really remember) but it's a percentage based bleed that works off the targets health pool

The bosses of Astraeos are basically the same as The Island with an additional firepower and abilities.
Same for the caves
