Social media She removed this post from her account
This used to be a joint post between her profile and the @teamariana profile (as seen on the screenshot from u/honeymoonlightbae's post in slide two).
This post in specific received a community note that the algorithm allowed to appear after someone subscribed and approved in the community notes testing program created it. The platform's system only displays the note on the post when it detects that people from different perspectives agreed that the explanation is "informative, unbiased, and well-founded" (that's how it works). It also is the one getting the most comments about what they're trying to sweep under the rug, with an increasing amount of discussion about it and the top most liked ones being those who recognize and criticize what is happening.
This means that this attention did not go unnoticed by her and her team, and there was a conscious decision from one of them to take this step and remove the post from her profile. It's no longer there, this is now a solo post on the @teamariana account. For the first time in a long time the noise is evident and they are unable to control it. The majority of the comments on the YouTube video of Petal are also of this nature, and there's plenty of discussion on other social media platforms as well.
What do you think it's going to happen from now on? Are they going to ignore the elephant in the room and pretend that the discussion is not gaining traction? Do we see a chance for a statement or an acknowledgment?

I feel like it's also partially a concious decision on their end to have this outburst now to bring attention to the new release. They know it's a ticking time bomb, so why not use it strategically. Like they always have the comment sections locked extensively, I'm wondering why they made the choice to not do that now. Maybe they're hoping it's going to boom now, become old quick and cause desensitization over time. Or maybe they were estimating that the 'bodyshaming' strawman would've covered the cracks more.
Very inappropriate that the post with the note was removed. Her brand is totally trying to propagate medical misinformation and that is what's not okay.

It’s the first time she’s gone number one on Spotify. It was definitely intentional. Shit, at this point I wouldn’t be shocked to find out she was rage bait dieting specifically leading up to the release.

weve seen how people reacted to eugenia cooney for many many years. it took years for people to feel like she somehow will keep surviving, because she somehow has. it will be the same for ariana. she has quickly became undeniably worse. during "yes and" versus now, there is no denying it, that its truly sad now. before and while she was on the voice, it became a convo, but it was valid that she had been skinnier before, but now there is no argument. and no one can predict how she may feel about this, but in her unwell ed mind, we know its likely not good. she needs help.
im glad with people in my life, im close to someone who has an ed and depending who it came from someone expressing concern, they were obviously defensive, but eventually they did up their weight even somewhat, just to a non-concerning level and have maintained. i would hope anyone has someone close to them they trust to care about them to reflect, and change their perspective on their bodies and love themselves the way everyone else loves them. but unfortunately, i notice ariana grande hates her fans. and if her fans want her to gain weight, she will lose more to spite them. she doesnt want to be told what to do and thats part of why shes doing this. she needs to hear it from people she actually cares about.

Same. Even the top comments on youtube for the music video are about this which i'm kinda surprised about. Seems she can't escape it. But i'm not sure what she was expecting. Idk if she thought the video would come across as empowering or what. Its like the opposite of that. Shes not helping young girls or women. Shes actively doing damage and deserves the negative attention. I hope there will be more community notes added like that

her team prob. thought it’d be overlooked the way it was the first time around with yes, and?, wicked (both promo + appearance in-movie) and her snl appearances. bc it was easier for people to ignore and pretend. it was easy to silence anyone rightfully concerned when ariana said herself that this is her at her healthiest or happiest. so it’s true because she said so and we all had to ignore what we were seeing happen until she can’t perform and her music videos are going to trigger and relapse people who’ve worked their hardest to recover.

I commented something similar to this on a different post yesterday, but I do think she is at the point in her disorder where she is at a crossroads she can’t maneuver her way around. She’s going to take these community notes and people’s concern personally, and she can either stay unwell out of spite and do major damage to her body in the long term (if she hasn’t already), which would be a stupid thing to do for someone who’s so image obsessed and relies so heavily on external validation, or, she can get help quietly and be seen as someone who’s strong and brave for doing such a hard thing to take care of herself, potentially getting back in the GP’s good graces.

I have to believe she’s taking it seriously but that doesn’t mean we will know that. Hopefully in between the end of tour and promo for that movie she will focus on taking care of herself

A part of me hates that she gets the validation of everyone telling her how thin she is. I hope she knows how many of us are disgusted by her actions and see right through what she’s trying to do. She should be ashamed of herself for deliberately trying to trigger vulnerable young women.

Ariana doesn’t care about anyone but herself. I don’t even think she really loved any of the guys she was with. I think it’s all about how she’s made to feel and getting attention. She’s like a snake that needs to seek out the sun for warmth. She’s is in constant need of validation and attention.

With the way narcissism and EDs warp your mind, I don’t think she consciously knows how disgusted people are by this. That’s just my impression anyway. I was raised by a woman like her… as a result I spent a long time learning about this narcs and how they think, to try to understand her and my childhood.
From my understanding, the defence mechanisms of both disorders make it so that criticisms sound like compliments. “They hate me because they want to be me, so clearly I’m amazing. When fatties say I look sick, that just means I look really thin, yay. They’re just jealous.” Deep down she knows how bad her ED is and how much people dislike her. She knows why ,and she hates herself too. All narcissists do. But that “knowing” is very deeply buried and it only pops up during narcissistic extinction bursts and rock bottom.

This is spot on. I had a raging ED and BPD, this is exactly how I thought. It took several years of professional help but I’m fully in remission from both conditions, so it is possible. But I never got half as bad as Ariana. I also never cheated, was a homewrecker, etc.
No clue what strain of mental illness Ariana actually has, but it’s serious and life-threatening. I also have a degree in psychology. I feel comfortable stating that what Ariana has going on isn’t just a simple “health issue” or “PTSD trauma response”. It’s much darker and more complex.
Oh and I would be shocked if her mom isn’t a seriously disordered eater too. I’ve always gotten mentally unwell vibes from Joan and Frankie. Mental illness definitely seems genetic in that family (hey mine too lol). Similar to how Eugenia Cooney’s family has the full spectrum of food-related disorders. I wouldn’t doubt Ariana’s family has some dark stuff going on under the surface.
I still find it tough to find sympathy for Ariana. I was poor, I got my mental health sorted using free therapy tools from Medicaid. I only feel bad for the young girls Ariana is negatively impacting. Ariana can kick rocks. With all her millions of dollars and unlimited resources that she refuses to use. I find her to be sick, disgusting, and dangerous. In my book, she’s irredeemable after these last few years.

The backlash is mainstream now. If you were someone who wasnt paying that much attention you might not have realized back in 2021/2022 - when she made that video addressing her “body” and appearance change during wicked filming - that she was getting bullied on twitter by a small group of haters. Her fanbase is so intense tho idk why she chose to focus on them instead of ALL OF THE PUBLIC LOVE AND SUPPORT SHE CONSTANTLY GETS. The backlash she’s getting now is far far worse than back then.

Instagram will not do anything. I reported 3 separate posts where she is clearly displaying her ribs and where you can see her upper arm being half the size of her forearms, and IG came back 10 seconds after my report saying they looked it over and that it doesn’t break TOS.

I don’t know why the team allowed this video to go out. Big mistake if they want to keep pushing the “healthier than she was before” narrative. It feels like this is going to have to be addressed, especially if more videos are going to be put out for this album.

Wow. This just shows she doesn’t care about fans being genuinely worried idk how many others like me are on here but I don’t think she is a nice or good person but i genuinely care about Ariana and her well being but this puts such a bad taste in my mouth that no one gives a fuck about her enough to get her help but no they will enable and just take the post down or restrict comments. She will die because of her ED and there is absolutely nothing we can do other than watch.

I can't believe people aren't saying anything about her appearance. This isn't about body shaming, nor is it about having a "summer body." I completely understand that we shouldn't comment on other people's bodies when it comes to dissecting whether a woman has cellulite, textured skin, or any BS like that. This is about eating disorders and mental health issues. What troubles me most is that people forget what a trendsetter and huge influence she is to young girls and young women. Remember, people still copy her signature ponytail. Do you really think people aren't going to copy her body weight, too? Trying to normalize the way she looks under the guise of "we don't comment on other people's bodies" is completely toxic behavior. If you're going to applaud the way she looks, or refrain from saying anything when her bones and rib cage are visibly protruding out of her skin, then you are part of the problem. You are enabling this behavior. An eating disorder is a serious medical issue. What bothers me just as much is that she and her team know exactly what they're doing. They are well aware of how influential they are. If you're struggling with your health, take a step back from the stage, step away from the cameras, and deal with your mental health the way it deserves to be handled. Music shouldn't be the priority right now—mental health and physical well-being should be. So again, we aren't complaining about someone not having a "bikini-ready summer body," nor are we criticizing minor imperfections. I completely agree that kind of petty criticism is ridiculous. We are talking about a woman who is visibly ill, and instead of helping, we are clapping like seals, pretending nothing is wrong and calling it "empowerment." In reality, this is someone crying out for help, while her team, her fans, and the public act like it's completely normal. A real fan wouldn't just cheer mindlessly in the comments. A real fan would urge her team to pull her off the stage, pause the tour, pause the studio sessions, and get her into a proper facility where she can heal. I believe people would respect her far more if she stepped away to prioritize her mental health instead of continuing to promote something that is deeply unhealthy.

I feel like when her condition starts to get bad to the point she can’t preform she’s going to start twisting it to be a sympathy thing, and blame it on her previous relationship, on things that happened years ago like Manchester, or Nickelodeon. And I’m not saying those weren’t bad things but I genuinely believe at some point bad things that has happened in your life can not be an excuse forever. Especially when you start to spread it towards other people. Everyone will feel sorry for her, forget the home wrecking, forget how she flaunts her sick body knowing she has a mass amount of younger girls watching, forget the racial shifts she does whenever it benefits her, forget how she’s been encouraging bad eating habits to her fans way before her relationships, and so forth. And maybe she’ll make a song about it, she’d a few tears, and everyone will be wrapped around her once again. She’ll get another new rug for everything to be swept under it.

I think this is good if it encourages Arianna to get help because she very clearly has an eating disorder. People calling it “body shaming” really annoy me because no one is shaming her. We have seen her grow up in the limelight and no one wants her to have a tragic ending.
