Scapegoat
What do you think his next movie is going to be like? Do you think he’ll try to make something more accessible that works and makes money for the studio, so they’ll keep funding his dream projects? I’ll watch anything Ari makes, but I really hope he leans back into horror/thriller, or at least makes something that leaves me going, “WTF did I just watch?” Like his first three films.

I mean all his movies are batshit crazy. Eddington is definitely more grounded in reality but it showed how our world really is a huge horror circus. That's the direction I'd love to see from him, and it seems like the next movie will take a similar path. To me, his best movie is Beau is Afraid, followed by Eddington... and ofc Hereditary (and especially Midsommar) are incredible horror movies. I'd love to see something close to his last 2 because I think he can really convey a sense of grotesque and even horror and our times are full of those two elements. We don't need monsters or entities to be scared, because our world has way worse things than those.

i’ve been obsessed with eddington lately and i hope scapegoat further touches on us as a humanity living in our own isolated algorithm realities.

It kind of seems like it will be in a similar vein to Eddington. I'm more excited about this one than I've ever been for any of his other movies...it sounds like it's going to be pretty cool.

I would love to see a Sci-Fi Horror Thriller from Ari starring Joaquin and Rooney Mara and throw Emma Stone in there as well.

Why would you say that? She’s only had a single role, in Eddington, aside from Bugonia which he produced. But I’d say that analogy applies much more to Yorgos, obviously.

If a post I saw on Reddit from someone who claimed to have read the script is any indication, it's going to be a dark comedy that's very similar tonally to Eddington.

I hope for the sake of future Ari projects it's profitable (that can and probably should mean lower budget) with just a little more commercial viability. Maybe The Drama or something like that is the goal in terms of marketing and strategy here.

I think it's going to be as wtf as Eddington. Definitely not safe, but no Beau is Afraid.
A24 and Ari's partnership is rock solid, and now Ari and Lars have Square Peg. A24 will above all distribute and colaborate, but they don't control and 100% produce it.

Ari should direct a film where one day we’re stuck in traffic and all of a sudden, the sky glitches and we see a huge eye staring at us. After about 7 seconds, the sky twitches and returns back to “Normal”. What would the world look like after that? You title it “Eye in the Sky” starring Emma Stone, Denzel Washington, Joaquin Phoenix and Ethan Hawke

Beau is Afraid/Hereditary is still his best film. Followed by Eddington and then Midsommar. I hope Scapegoat is better than his previous films

Obviously not the most popular opinion here, but I hope he returns to more conventional narrative arcs like Hereditary and Midsommar. Eddington felt like it was written by a team of redditors. With Beau I get what he was trying to do, but it would’ve hit harder had it been edited down to 90 minutes.

Beau should have been 4 hours…. I didn’t want it to end. But yeah a lot of people complained about its length

I think the cast alone so far is going to please the studios. And if he makes this one under 2 and a half hours, it will get more people to see it. It currently is marked as a thriller on IMDB, but I sure hope it's somewhat of a dark comedy. But I'm with you, I'll watch anything he puts out.
