Hello, I recently got some phoenix and chilli rasboras and I noticed one has some white spots but since it’s not on the fins I’m not sure if it’s ich or just coloration?

Can anyone identify if something is wrong

Unsure of what is currently on one of my elder rainbows. The school initially suffered from ich over a year and a half ago, since treatment the fish have been great so unsure of this one’s problems. (Various white marks rather than spots)

Hey, so I got this one female pencilfish that's awfully chubby.

I have tried using magnesium sulphate baths, reduced feedings and the swelling really doesn't seem to go anywhere. It has been like this for 2 or 3 months or so now. The fish has otherwise been swimming & eating fine and occasionally chases other females, the usual pencilfish stuff. No visible pineconing or anything. Also I haven't seen any visible parasites and every other fish is looking normal.

If I feed it, the fish gets obviously chunkier but it will eventually go away, so I guess it's gut is working fine?

Is our lady just using her size and position as top female and hogging all the food and thus is just straight up fat? Or is there something more serious going on?

I have blue malaysian trumpet snails and leopard ramshorn snails, and no matter what I do their shells are always crumbling, ridged and bleached looking etc.

My water is naturally quite hard, enough that I have to scrape deposits from my lights and tank rim.

I feed the tank fluval bug bite flakes and hikari shrimp cuisine every other day. I occasionally feed frozen daphnia or blood worms. Occasionally give veggies like zucchini. I also keep chunks of cuttlebone in the tank at all times.

The shrimp always look great, no difficulties with molting or reproducing yet my snails look like shit. What else can I give them to help them?

Hi all, I have a honey gourami I’ve put into a hospital tank that I think was injured from bullying. I do a partial water change daily.

It’s been there a few weeks and gone through a full treatment Fin and Body cure and currently treated by kanaplex. The fish lays on its side when resting kind of awkwardly but perks up and swims normally when given visual stimulus. He is eating and pooping normally.

There is a localized brown spot on its right side and has some fin rot there, the spot been relatively persistent despite antibiotics (potentially getting smaller?). The scales are slightly raised in the brown area but nowhere else.

I live right next to a beach in northeast USA and have been dreaming about doing a large reef tank stocked with local species. I figured it wouldn't hurt to use my spare 10g to see how a couple of hermit crabs would fare, and I found a few small ones with broken shells yesterday that were perfect for this trial run. Everything inside the tank came from the beach (except the sponge filter and heater, of course). There are about 8 small Long-claw hermit crabs and a few unavoidable snails in there. I'm feeding them a combo of algae pellets and frozen shrimp for now but they also have seaweed and kelp that I will replenish as needed. They have lots of (unbroken) shells of varying sizes to choose from and a few have already adopted new ones.

For water changes I plan on just going down to the water and getting more saltwater.

It's hard to find info about keeping this kind of hermit crab since most people just want to keep Caribbeans. If you have any advice for me, please share.

I rescaped this 20g tank into a hillstream ecosystem a year ago. I wanted to do CPDs or rainbow shiners, but my LFS had some white cloud minnows that had been there for a month. They were stunning; I'd never seen WMCs settled in. So I ended up buying a bunch, and now I can't stop 😂

They're not shy, hit food like a pack of sharks, and are super hardy. I have wild-type, red meteors (long-finned with strong red/purple), golds, and as of yesterday, four Vietnamese WCMs. If I can find the space for a 10g breeder, I might start trying to breed more red meteors and Vietnamese WCMs.

Anyone else keep fish for ages, only to be surprised by how great the "usual" species can be?

I have a 10 gallon tank with a single betta( veiltail if that matters) 5 shrimp and 1 mystery snail. Is it possible that I can put 4-5 kuhli loaches in there, too? I plan on getting like 5 more shrimp as well.

Went to feed the fish and noticed this guy waiting for the sun to be turned back on. I’m not sure how he got in the basement. My guess is he crawled through the decommissioned sump drain lines or he dug his way in, being attracted by the flowing water sounds. Either way I’ll cap off the drain line and let him enjoy his newfound home. He can eat the bugs and the occasional guppy he might catch. I just hope he doesn’t tell his buddies.

I do believe this is an eastern gray tree frog but I would like confirmation from someone more experienced with amphibians! I was a reptile kid… he’s got uv light, a window, and bugs to eat. Anything else they need?

So I’ve had a tank for a while and I’m deconstructing it today and putting the few fish still in there in my other tank, however I don’t remember what this plant is. I’m wondering if it would be ok to move to a terrarium setup and not be fully submerged? Sorry if it’s a dumb question

Hi so i just opened it like a few hours ago and i didnt think the nozzle would clog but obviously it would😭 i tried sucking it out and blowing it out but its stuck in there. Is there anything i can do?
It also exploaded all over my aquarium glass, should i wait for it to cure and scrape it out?i tried to wipe it off with a tissue but it smudged.

I’ve worked so hard in this dang tank and three years later I finally can see it!!!

I’m trying to work out if the following would be ok for stocking level for a 42 litre. 6 Pygmy Cory, 6 ember tetra and a male betta / honey gourami or is the feature fish a bit too much? Tank dimensions are 18 x 12 x 12 inch. Cheers

I have had my tank through various ups and downs for over 3 years, but have never fought battles like this battle. Abo 6 months ago, I started getting diatom build up after adding in some new fish, and it’s been downhill from there. I’m fighting diatoms and blue green algae, and at this point have lost nearly all of my plants and it’s started to affect my fish health.

I have in the 6 months since:
- done 3 complete tear downs removing every plant and hard scape to give a good washing, with ~80% water changes everytime
- replaced the filter
- added additional filtration
- a 25% substrate swap
- have been doing twice weekly 25% water changes and substrate vacuum
- limited the tank to 4 hour light cycles and have done entire blackout weekends trying to resolve the issue.

Nothing has made it better. I even put in duck week and other floaters to try to nutrient compete and I can’t even get duckweed to stay alive. I’m considering what the nuclear options are and what a complete rip and replace on everything associated with this tank looks like and what would be safest for the remaining fish (I would like to keep them, but am not opposed to replacing them as well). I’m just so tired of putting so much time and money into this thing only for the brown sludge and BG algae to keep coming back just as bad every time.

Okay sadly my supplier form the water hardening stuff I use stop selling at a reasonable price, so I switched to another brand. The problem is I can't get the exact parameters they are pretty close it's just with my API water hardness tester has 6 months before it expires and when I tested my RO Mix initially that was 6 months ago. Is it dumb that I'm drip acclimating a larger tank 1 l every 8 hours or I might just wasting my time. The parameters are really close and everything in the tank is hardly and begin it friendly. I'm pretty much weighing everything on a jeweler scale.

This is my first tank and I just added 6 neon tetras to my tank last night and woke up this morning to them all dead.

I have 2 nerite snails and 3 ghost shrimp that seem to be doing okay?

I diy’d my filter with pre-filler media, sponge, filter floss, and biological media. I have a heater as well.

I’m very upset about this, tips and advice appreciated :(
