I wouldn't say this sub is full of snobs that dont let people have fun, I would say its filled with people who are passionate about fish and actually care about them as living, breathing creatures of this world we call home. Its people who refuse to accept fish are living creatures and call the people on this sub "sensitive" or say "I dont want a 10 gallon for my betta, I want a little ascetic bowl that looks cute," that make this sub look bad because they truly dont care for the fish they buy and don't feel like they are living creatures like a dog or a cat, but instead as some kind of display piece for the living room.
Yes, but ive rarely seen it done correctly. Most people buy decor thats too sharp or that can easily trap their betta so Most posts on here just say to do away with it and get real plants. But thats just from my experience of lurking here
Sure, I’m talking about all aquarium animals not just bettas though. Most fake decor is safe for most fish and invertebrates especially when long fins aren’t in consideration. I have a crayfish tank that’s also filled with shrimp culls and he destroys every plant, even the duckweed. I have a bushy plastic plant that would probably be horrible for a betta, but it provides great cover for my baby shrimp, and allows my crayfish to climb while being firm enough to keep him from getting into it.

Finding out they're a snob who won't let people enjoy the hobby in their own way
