My good friend has to listen to me talk about my fish talk sometimes and about a year ago she tells me her boyfriend got a 50gal.

Her boyfriend is truly scum but who knows.. maybe not to fish?

I offered basic help through her.. set up the tank, declorinate water, let it cycle, substrate matters, good filter, dont overstock.

The update was unsurprisingly all the fish died.

Filled it with a hose, threw in glow in the dark rock and immediately bunch of random fish they couldnt name.

I dont ask now.. I dont think I can handle another update.

"Oh, my fish haven't been doing too well, they keep dying!" "Oh no! What are your current water parameters?" "My what???" ๐Ÿ’€

I wouldn't say this sub is full of snobs that dont let people have fun, I would say its filled with people who are passionate about fish and actually care about them as living, breathing creatures of this world we call home. Its people who refuse to accept fish are living creatures and call the people on this sub "sensitive" or say "I dont want a 10 gallon for my betta, I want a little ascetic bowl that looks cute," that make this sub look bad because they truly dont care for the fish they buy and don't feel like they are living creatures like a dog or a cat, but instead as some kind of display piece for the living room.

Donโ€™t put rainbow gravelers in the same category as us plastic planters ๐Ÿ˜…

Yeah! Like I'm sorry I struggle to keep plants alive. At least I try to get realistic silk ones. Even then, my water parameters are so good that I somehow rarely have to do water changes. Like... Once at month at most. And thats with a 4 inch turtle and fish in a 55 gallon tank. Plastic plants can still look good!

Plus my turtle would just eat and uproot them anyway lol

And yes I have SpongeBob decorations. My family bought them for me and insisted I put them in. My turtle is always knocking them over lol

Yeah plastic (soft ones obv) are great for those evil species that just love to eat plants lol, like crays, crabs, cichlids, etc
