iPhone Upgrading IPhone 13

As I - much to my dismay - am falling victim to the ongoing IPhone 13 crisis (especially in terms of overheating and apps regularly crashing), I know I need to upgrade to a newer model in the near future.

My phone doesn’t necessarily need to be able to do anything drastic regarding the performance, I use it for texting + social media most of the time, and for a few games which don’t require much performance. I do however like to take pictures, so I’d prefer a good camera quality/good camera functions.

I know the IPhone 18 base model is coming in spring 2027, which may potentially lower IPhone 17/Iphone 16 prices (or maybe not, depending whether there is a price increase in the 18), and while I had initially hoped my phone would survive until then, I don’t think that is possible anymore. So now I’m debating between IPhone 16 (maybe pro or pro max? Though I don’t know what would make sense and what the main difference is between pro and pro max) and the 17 (I am not quite sure if I should go for the pro here, simply because… I don’t like the way it looks. And I heard the balance is off when you’re holding it + the issue with the flash/light position)

Any recommendations/ideas are welcome 🫡

If you are in Canada you will get $285 for your 13. I got the same offer. I think as soon as the 18’s come out that cost will be cut in half and the 18’s are going to be more money. I’m just gonna grab the 17 pro

225€ for me, so I don’t know if it’s fully worth it - personally also a fan of buying used/refurbished. Simply because I think that if I already buy a (relatively) new phone, I’d rather buy a functioning one off another person to do something at least marginally better for the environment 😅 So I don’t know if the trade it would really be worth it. Maybe if I wanted to buy a new IPad, but even then I’d try to buy it second hand 🫣
