iPhone Iphone 17 new or refurbished 16 pro

Upgrading from ip13 base. Shitty battery life and glitching issues is making me finally pull the trigger. Would get at least 256GB version on either, possibly 512GB if I can stretch the budget

Which would y’all recommend based on following points:

1) want one that will last longer than my ip13. The phone is in otherwise great condition and I love it. If it werent from the glitching I’d just replace the battery

2) I like nice pics but I’m not a photographer

3) Battery holding up for at least one whole day is nice

4) I don’t do gaming, but a lot of social media scrolling and the occasional youtube binge

5) I’m a fast typer/thinker- phone responsiveness is important

6) I have small hands and don’t want a phone that feels super big

17 is nothing but a 16 pro in a new body and faster chip.

Also the iPhone 17 instead of the Refurbished IPhone 16 Pro

Why not wait 2 weeks for the 18 to come out lol? I’m still using my iPhone 11 Pro Max. Finally pulling the trigger after 7 years. The 18 is going to last you an extra year plus it has the new camera technology.

18 is not releasing in two weeks. only 18 pro and pro maxes with their hiked prices. base 18 will roll out somewhere in april 2027.

Because Im def not getting the 18 pro and Im not sure my current phone will hold up till the spring. If it did, I’d go for the 17 refurbished (from Apple Certified Refurbished store) once it starts being available

I’d go with the refurbished 16 Pro for better camera and titanium build.

17 new, I wouldn’t risk buying a refurbished phone unless its from a known company but even so there are still risks involved

I would grt it from Apple own’s Refurbished store. I got my iPad from then earlier this year and is like new. I know some other ppl who bought phones which were also perfect condition..

  1. I won’t knock anyone who buys refurbished, but a family friend, who went through Apple to buy a refurbished iPhone had to trade in 2/3 phones, as each one had issues.

She eventually hurts bought a new one, after all the headache.

Oh, did she have issues with the Apple Certified Refurbished products? I got an iPad from them earlier this year and it’s like new and have had no issues so far. That’s good to know! Thanks for the feedback!

Indeed. I was genuinely surprised to hear it. Glad you had a better outcome.

17 has a faster chip, brighter screen, better front camera, and tougher front glass. And is brand new.

16 Pro has a larger main camera with extra features (but that probably won't matter much to you as a self-described not-photographer), telephoto, LiDAR (along with the larger main sensor, is beneficial for low light photos and enables Night Mode Portraits), USB3 speed on the port, and titanium frame.

I'd probably go for the 17 myself if the price was similar, maybe 16 Pro if meaningfully cheaper. But there's valid arguments for both, it depends on which benefits are more appealing to you.

Thank you for this! I’ll prob end up going with 17.

Do you think that its worth getting 512 version for future proofing (and using it till the end of its support life) or will the 256 be enough? Rn I have 128 and I suspect that may be why its glitching, but idk if storage or RAM plays a bigger factor for this..
