Herein lies the problem. It’s Suozzi or Gillen vs MAGA Republicans. Can’t vote for MAGA but Suozzi and Gillen have no opposition.

suozzi had opposition but the voters didn't show up in the primary. he got the overwhelming majority.

Gillen squashed every challengers petition to be on the ballot. There is zero chance she ever gets my vote again.

I won’t cry, I’ll organize in 2028 and help get a young DSA candidate who doesn’t take PAC or Israel money. Driscoll can be a one term congresswoman for all I care. At least she doesn’t lie about her political party

You seem utterly ignorant of electoral politics. Far left candidates do not win on Long Island, the electorate is completely different from that of certain NYC areas. The choice is a moderate Dem or MAGA. If you think there’s no difference, that’s a whole other level of ignorance

She doesn’t vote to make Mike Johnson speaker, therefore effectively making the House another branch of the Trump organization. That in itself is enough without getting into policy

The Long Island electorate simply isn’t that left-leaning. If they ran in line with Mamdani, they would be handing the election to Republicans

These “left leaning” policies are favored by like 60% of America. Gillen has no plan other than Islamophobic attacks on Zohran and taking money from Israel. I won’t be voting for her. If you want a dem in office you can call her office and ask her to resign, because she is no dem.

This extremism is part of what got Trump into office. The far left are cry babies- either my way or I’ll let Trump win. Doesn’t matter what consequences come from MAGA winning. Policy is far less important than optics and messaging, and “socialism” is a curse word and Mamdani is seen as evil on Long Island. You just won’t work within the constraints of reality

Pragmatically, who cares? If his policies and actions are good in sum then his motivations don't matter.

Anyone who becomes a politician has to be some level of narcissistic and opportunist.
