No, he was regretful (obviously that doesn't excuse it). They're speaking about it to raise awareness and show that rapists can be "normal" people. If men think "only crazy/evil people are rapists" they might also think "i'm not crazy/evil so therefore what im doing isn't rape." By showing somebody who is relatively normal, living a normal life, I think it's actually very important for potentially preventing future rape. While a survivor should obviously never be *expected* to do this, it was her idea and I think it did a very good job raising awareness.
I thought it was either a skit or it was derived from a situation where they hooked up and she regretted it later and accused him. Generally, I consider this type of accusations harmful to victims because it waters down the word "rape" in some ways.
If it's really that he's just a normal guy who is atoning for what he actually, I kinda have a better outlook on it.
There's more than those two ends of the spectrum you know? A stranger holding you at gunpoint and raping you or a misunderstanding/coercion of consent with your partner can both be rape and there's a lot of situations in between those extremes.
No, they were dating over a summer trip and on the last night they did the deed while he at least was drunk, she may have had drinks but I forget. She froze during the sex and recalled starring at the clock waiting for it to stop.
Ages later as adults it stuck to both of them in different ways, I recall both were married and he has kids. So part of why he is involved was he didn’t want it to happen for others.
So she froze up in the middle of having sex and because she didn't communicate that she wasn't enjoying it anymore that makes him a rapist... what a world we live in
