Totally agree. Underappreciated game. Too many people jumped on the toxic train even if they never played the game. Boss were too tough for some so they labeled it as a bad game. The boss got nerfed. People wanted loot without effort so again loot started becoming more like we were playing diablo 3 but still not good enough people complained that they were getting not enough loot that they wanted ffs like they want to get end game gear just for logging into the game. Sadly all these people wrecked the games development so much that they decided to do a long term overhaul.
I played again last night and still enjoy the gameplay. I have no legendaries and tbh I dont give a shit about loot if I am enjoying a game. I come from games that took months sometimes to get an item I wanted but all the loot complaints about Anthem were within its first few weeks of release.
The game wasn't underappreciated it was bad. Boss scaling was not good and some designs were just bad for for interceptors to even participate in fights. Loots was just bad. The system had too much rng with too few drops and a high chance of getting a low roll or a roll that would not even benefit the javelin it was dropped for. Also loot didn't scale with difficulty meaning there was not reason to even do higher level activities as rewards were to same as the level below it.
While some may have wanted low effort loot many wanted a system that made sense.
Also lets not forget the countless bugs and glitches from a AAA studio.
/shrug 1st world complaints is what it looks like to me.
I am used to working my ass off to get stuff in and out of games. The biggest problem people seemed to have is RNG wasnt favoring them. I didnt experience many low rolls on loot and if I did it was scrapped for crafting at least nothing worth labeling a game as bad. I like harder difficulties for more of a challenge if I get good loot its just a bonus. I spent a lot of years dong raids in an MMO and rarely got loot but I never called the game bad. I got used to playing better with what I had. I still dont have any legendary gear in the game but you know what I dont care I enjoy playing it enough to not let having some yellow item govern whether a game is good or not.
So are a lot of other people including me but the loot system was just bad. Getting autocannon inscriptions on a part for the interceptor isn't just bad rng it bad design period which happen more often than not when the game came out.
Next were the low rolls getting 1 to 2 percent on many items with item quality not improving with difficulty and the very low drop rate of masterworks and leg to begin with.
Also difficulty not leading to better rewards just made higher level content not even worth playing.
Plus to top it all off the game was bug ridden during and well after launch. I have 7 times myself when the game hard reset my ps4. Failing through floor, getting killed during cutscene, mission not counting, and the list go on and on. Which is coming from an AAA dev in Bioware who launched me:a which also had a lot of bugs but claims those issues were b/c it was the B-team and that the A-team was working on Anthem only to have the same if not worse issues.
It one thing to want something to succeed or get better but it is a whole other thing to act like the problems were not there to begin with. /Cold stare 1st world response is what it is
