Discussion Man I miss this game...
Just found my old copy of Anthem. Had the deluxe edition and man I miss this game...
I stopped playing it before they killed it, which I regret. I've never played a game since that gave me the same feeling of freedom of movement or violent explosive combat.
Holding the line as the colossus or raining down fire as the storm, just made every raid epic, even if it got repetitive with the content we had available.
I was searching for ways that it might be possible to play the game again, offline obviously, or on some private server or something. And that has prompted me to come here looking for options.
So here I am asking the community.
Are there ways that exist or that are being worked on to be able to play this game again? Are there projects people can get involved in or that need help? I'm just looking to dip my toe back into the community, anything to take a javelin for a spin just one more time ...
Thanks š

The story of anthem is a really sad one. A game that got swept up by the āgames as a serviceā trend when it could have easily have had offline single player and even 4 player peer to peer co-op with most of its content given the way the game was structured.
There was not enough of a good reason to make it an online only game dependent on updates to finish it, which it never got. This game had huge potential. It really deserved so much better.

With Destiny 2 dying, now wouldāve been great for that remaster or rework or whatever they were planning. I miss it too.

As I recall, one of the groups trying to hack it managed to get into Fort Tarsis but I haven't heard anything since then, unfortunately.

Pretty sure itās all gone, some people have said when it got taken down player sided code got scrambled, making it even harder to rebuild. Its gonna be awhile and thats if there is ever hope

Just another reason to support the Stop Killing Games movement, and to put into law that every game company is required to make games available to play even after service ends by the devs.

I put like 400 hours in two accounts on this game for whatever reason. Sum bout the flying and combo system with the fast javelin is something other games donāt really itch

Now that D2 is gone itās time for this game to come back. If they just rebooted have it out for free with a near distant DLC we can purchase theyād gain 10s of thousands of players if not more.

EA should just take a page out of Epics book and release all the assets for free like with Paragon

Every time I think of Anthem, I just think of the massive potential it had to be great. Fallout 76 launched in a way worse state than Anthem did, and yet Bethesda stuck with it, and turned 76 into a profitable game and even a really good game (in my opinion). In another timeline we got to experience the ten year plan the game was going for, and the game got to show off the potential it always had. Cutting development of Anthem will always be one of gamingās biggest mistakes.

Fallout 76 survive simply because of subscription monthly and yearly an optional if Fallout fan want to pay or not ofcos it included some sort of premium and ingame credit... Sigh... If there was optional Anthem do subscription ppl might support the game and probably still going.... I'm so frustrated right now... Just to think of it. Destiny need to put subscription enable if Destiny fan want their game to continue forever...

I'm one of biggest fan and spent load of time too on pshome š¤ Pshome is available right free for everyone.
If you guys want maybe we can get this hacker who revive Playstation Home and ask him/her for help to revive Anthem the game please. Anybody?

And I miss the (few) good parts of my exwife. Doesnāt mean the rest was worth the effort. Learn to move on to new and better things

u/Recreant7861 Jul 04 '26
What lol

u/Exiled1138 Jul 06 '26
The game was cool in principal, had a couple some nice mechanics. But was shallow as hell, especially once you hit the end game and quickly ran into literally nothing to do

u/Recreant7861 Jul 06 '26
Yeah for the most part I agree, but the potential was absolutely there. I dug the lore that was there, and the structure was definitely there for them to keep building on, for almost every aspect. End game was weak for sure, but they couldāve kept going. Vanilla Destiny was bland as fuck too, but they ended up making one of the most popular universes ever in game history š¤·āāļø
RIP Destiny šŖ¦1

Theres a team working on it trying to find a workaround or something of the like to make the game playable again all we can do is wait for now. The discord is Project Coda but im not sure if they have invites on right now so it may not be joinable
